What happens if this thing goes off the rails here soon?

....after all media crucifying. Big Mike might just get back to basics.

If im Dak, I would get hold of Kurt Warner for advice. Warner was legit QB, smart too.

I'd say yes, dump the current QB1 to see what you have in Lance. This said, no way this happens with this FO

Really? Honestly did anyone think we were going to beat the 49ers in their stadium. If so you havent been paying attention over the last few decades.
The Cowboys are not a Super bowl caliber team and haven't been since before some of y'all were even born. Heck this team is not even as good as it has been over the last two seasons. We couldn't do it then what makes you think we could do it now.

The ceiling for this year team is no different then what it has been in years past and that is try and reach the playoffs as a wildcard team. Anything more then that every year is a bonus and anything less is really not that unexpected.

fair enough. he knows kellens tendencies and concepts. and i don't think knowing how quinn likes to play defense is a bigger advantage.
Ok lets see how it goes
I think its an advantage
In any event, the key will be if they can run on us, if they can we have a problem

Problem is, Warner had natural tools, i.e. a great arm and great down field vision. How does his advice help Dak?

3-3 coming up fellow fans. This is a SB for K Moore. If you don’t think he has had this game circled since schedule came out you are fooling yourself. He will throw every thing at us and if we get embarrassed again, you can officially say the wheels have came off.

I think it depends on the situation. If we are in Game 11 or 12 or so and the team is 4-7 or 5-8 and a long shot for the playoffs, what's the point of playing Rush? There is no upside. They brought Lance in as a potential successor down the line for Dak.
Because Rush is the back up. It doesn't depend on the situation. Unless Rush is hurt, he is the guy. They aren't putting a guy out there who isn't ready yet.

I know why they brought Lance in. Everyone does.

Bottom line - Lance won't be ready by then. He not be ready for the beginning of the 2024 season after a full off season, training camp and pre-season.

A year from now it might be different. But for 2023, It's Rush with Lance maybe getting a little cleanup duty. Here is a clue - last Sunday in the 4th quarter who came in Rush or Lance?

Now, in all fairness, neither McCarthy or Dak are terrible enough with the talent around them to have this season imploded on itself. To the dismay of the logical fans amongst us, they'll probably win just enough games to keep Jerry happy and hopeful and we all get screwed again.

But what happens if the season goes sideways? Do they even consider pulling Dak for Lance? Once you do that, there is no coming back from that, you have to move Dak in the offseason. I don't think Jerry wants any part of that. Would McCarthy try to make the move and have Jerry overrule him?

If the season goes sideways, the smart move would be to bench Dak and play Lance and see what you have. Stop worrying about 2024. If Dak and McCarthy can't make it work this year, thinking that next year will be different is dumb. It's bandaid pulling time if this season implodes on itself.

If we had competent leadership in the GM office, they'd be planning, even quietly, the process of what to do if this goes sideways - how they handle the QB spot, what to do about the coaching staff, etc. There is no reason if this season is a dud, especially if things implode and they miss the playoffs, to bring back either Dak or McCarthy.

PS - Another fear. I like Quinn. But I also think if Jerry is forced to **** can McCarthy, he'll retread Quinn as the HC. Another bad decision in the making.
Its already off the rails

I agree if the season truly goes off the rails you have to give Lance a shot to show what he can do. If not why did you trade for him to begin with?

The tough part with that though is you really need to be eliminated from playoff contention for that scenario to happen and you only have 8 teams at 500 or better in the NFC with 7 playoff spots up for grabs so it will be hard to truly be out of it unless things get really bad and you start losing to teams like Washington & NY.
Lance sucks. There is no
Mystery. Now if you want to lose in order to gain him experience thats dine.

Was rush going to score 42 against the niners?

God help me, but I'm praying - well, I don't pray but you get the point - for a complete and utter collapse. If all goes well both Dak and MM will be gone by 2025. Dak sooner rather than later.

I think Dak gets injured trying to do too much and I think McCarthy is exposed as the fraud he is. The man said, "I went back and looked at every play from every game the prior year." Complete BS and was a lie. First, it would be counterproductive to be a good head coach...and then the man didn't even call plays! He hired his boy as the coordinator and he was garbage...so what did he really learn?

No I'm hoping a complete and utter crash out. Get a new RB. Get a new QB. Get a new coach. Continue to build the o-line. Get MORE leaders with less talk and more action in here.

They should have never paid Gallup. never paid Zeke. Jerry falls in love with looking smart and historically the only thing that wakes him up from his stupor are plummeting ticket sales and NFL irrelevancy on Sunday. It's time to lose a few games and get a top pick...not be middlin for decades and decades hoping to get some glory you know what....

Depends which defense shows up.
Moore, remember his offense did not fair so well against good defenses.
And no, Herbert is not as good… yet.. as advertised…
Re: Moore- One could alternatively say that Dak "did not fair so well against good defenses". KM was handicapped by the QB.

I'm in the camp that believes Herbert can play. He throws passes Dak can only dream of.

I hate to say it but there is a real chance the 49ers blowout sends Dallas into a tailspin. The Cowboys were badly demoralized and you could see it. The question is can they shake it off in 1 week? Their confidence has to be shaken.

I can see the Cowboys struggling until something happens to boost their confidence. If they do tail spit, my guess is the season will just continues with the same players they started with. The only change we might expect is McCarthy letting someone else call the plays. Maybe he should let Dak call the plays like he did in preseason one game. Maybe if Dak is calling the plays his focus on the execution of the play will be better. Sometimes you need to do something like that to shake things up.

Dak can't read Defenses, and now you want to let him call his own plays like Peyton . Dak couldn't hold PM water bottle . Daktards are blinder than Stevie Wonder
