What I Don't Understand About Cowboys Fans?

So you are positive while feeling the team isn't headed in the right direction?
Sometimes. I have said it before, I am a positive person in all aspects of life. I do not like negativity. I do not respect negativity. I do not want to be around negative people.

I wish I could believe we'd win a Super Bowl every year.

Do you still play dungeons and dragons?

Are you saying it's ridiculous to go into the season believing that we have a chance to win the Superbowl? Unless the team literally doesn't play the games, then we have a chance. Believing and expecting are 2 different things. I have faith the Cowboys can win the Superbowl this year. If I didn't, why would I even watch the games? Until they're mathematically eliminated, they have a chance.

I hate fans who think they are better then other fans because they don't see things the right way, their way. Doesn't really matter what side of the "homer/realist" fence you fall on

When you figure the system out that some of these guys use to measure fandom, let me know. I just want to know about the steps involved in being a super fan. ;)

No prob bro. Our odds are 25-1. Set in Vegas.

Sure we have a CHANCE. Everyone does.

So I can imagine you as a Lions fan talking about Super Bowls in the Lions forum.

Hos, we have had this discussion before. The reason is that some of us are older than dirt and remember the Landry days of winning. We also remember the Jim Johnson days of winning and how it felt to be a Cowboys fan. Then Jerry thought he was more talented than any other QMs, scouts, and coaches. So we Cowboy fans have now seen 16 years of losing and it feels bad. We the old timers have seen the trends and have a real good handle on what the Jerry philosophy is and this is why we want to teach this old dog new tricks.
No matter how many times and ways someone tries to explain this to me I will not get it. I used to be a fan of the NBA. I was really into it. But something happened in the playoffs one year that just rubs me the wrong way and it was two teams that I do not even like. I have not watched an NBA game since then. I do not consider myself a fan any more. I no longer have any NBA caps, t-shirts, or anything. Nor do I expect to.

If something makes you miserable, I don't understand the attraction to it. I get away from it. You do whatever you like. I could not exist as a fan with the attitude some fans have. I could not do it. If that makes me a worse fan, so be it.

Had you pegged as a super fan, my bad.

You're a bandwagon fan

I mentioned something earlier that I think sort of goes along with your last statement: I think there are some fans that would truly be angry to see Jerry hoist the Lombardi over his head, just because they're such Jerry haters, even though they're fans of the team.
If you stick around youll dredge up a few fans that feel that way about Romo too.
They are so invested in his failure, that they'd at best have mixed feeling on him winning a title.

As for Jerry....I'll stay out of that one.

Hey, as for fans that come off as negative all the time. It does seem miserable, but that makes them no less loyal.

There are a few Romo haters here, but the vast majority (and the majority of the NFL observers) feel that Romo is an excellent QB.

On the other hand, other than Cowboys fans, NO ONE believes Jerry Jones is a good GM.

You can expect some negative and positive feedback. I too do not understand why some people do not seem to even like the team they root for. I couldn't be that way with a gun to my head. Most of them are still very loyal fans, just happy to be unhappy it seems. I can't explain it any other way because I just don't understand it.

Kind of like having a girlfriend that you just can't stand....what do you do? You dump her.

I understand disagreement and some disapproval, but for those who constantly whine and *****... Move on

No ... kind of like a loved one with an illness. You get it treated, remove the illness, and recover.

I can make as many stupid analogies as you can.

did you look over my post? i think i answered it on several occasions. To the next thing i feel the same way about trying to talk cowboys. I left the true blue forums due to the amount of ignorance. But i guess that is the internet for you. Everytime i post people overlook it. for instance i talked about wares next injury days in advance and then a few days later there was a topic on it and people were all go on it? What do i got to be in the right posse or something?

The best thing is just to start consistently posting and others will come to recognize who you are and start to engage you on the board.

BTW, I think I answered your original post but not the follow-up if that makes you feel better.:D

So having faith that my team can win the Superbowl, and believing that there's a chance they can win the Superbowl, makes me a bandwagoner? What?

I guess this is what I was trying to gain an understanding of in my original post. I'm not in any way trying to come off as a so-called "superfan" or imply that I'm better than any of the other fans. I just can't wrap my head around why some of the more miserable, hopeless individuals continue to be attracted to the team, and continue to remain as fans. If a fan thinks Jerry sucks, thinks the team sucks, and has no hope or faith or belief that the team can be successful during the next season, why is that person still a fan???? What exactly are they a fan of at that point? How can you cheer for something you have no faith in??

Probably the best way I've seen it described.

I also don't get it but to each their own. Some folks here, quite a few I guess, seem like they hate the team so much, and are so miserable about them, that I honestly don't get what the draw would be to being a fan.

If I hated it that much, and all being a fan did was bring me misery, I don't believe i'd be watching to much of whatever that thing was anymore.

Maybe that's just me.

If one of my interests caused that much misery, I think I'd find a new one

Nope. The day I can't enjoy my team is the day I will find another passion.

Your whole post reeks of stuck up *****yness if the point of your post was not to show us what an awesome fan you are then what is it?

You were being condscending but putting that aside. Jerry isn't the Dallas Cowboys. I was a fan long before he came will be one long after he is gone. The star is bigger than one man. I don't get why someone has to be a fan of the current management to be a fan of the team. Makes no sense.

No one has to be a fan of anything in management.

It's just curious when some people come along who just seem like they're completely miserable, about everything, as to why you'd even want to bother to keep watching, or being around, something that makes you completely miserable.

It's sort of like friends, IMO. We've all had loads of different friends in our lifetimes. I'm sure we can all relate to at one time or another being really great friends with someone. Maybe it was briefly, maybe it was years, but really great friends none the less.

Then, at some point, that friend started changing. Maybe they were in general unhappy all the time and hated the world. Maybe they got into politics to an extreme degree and that's all they ever wanted to talk about or debate. So every time you were around them wound up being a miserable time for you.

Guess what happens? You quit being friends with that person and move on. I've been there, I'm sure many others have too.

Just doesn't make a lot of sense to continue to bother with something that only makes you miserable.

Now let me clarify this. The reality here is that none of us know if any of these people who appear to be nothing but miserable because of the Cowboys really are that miserable. We don't know them personally. We haven't met them and in all likelyhood never will.

We can only go by what, and how, they post which makes it seem like some fans here are completely, 100% miserable all the time when it comes to the Dallas Cowboys.

If that's the case I honestly don't get the attraction.

But, again, to each their own. If being miserable is your thing (and understand I mean your in general and not you personally) then have a ball with it.

Just gonna flip this around on you since your question has been asnwered so many times already. Doesn't you being happy with poor results makes you a crap fan? If you are not happy with the poor results why are you even a fan?

See how stupid your question is?

Wow. You really are upset. Get up on the wrong side of the bed?

Geez.

Every team has shallow, bandwagon, unreasonable, silly, tantrum-throwing fans. The Cowboys just seem to have more of them than other teams.

Probably because Dallas has such a large fan base that there is simply that many more chances for them to have more fans like that.

Yep. Pretty much.

If people are nothing but negative I don't have them in my life. Whats the point? I don't want to bother with that negativity.

In life it's easy to get away from that because you simply don't go around those type of people.

On the internet it's actually even easier. They put the ignore functions on these forums for good reason.

Well except for you admins and mods Hos. You folks get totally screwed.
