CowboysZone ULTIMATE Fan
Jerry conning fans for 30 years. This is why the Cowboys are the most valuable franchise and they always fall short. People buy the hype.
This team will be lucky to make the playoffs next season. If they do it will be a one and done.
The fans have not been conned.

If I were to bet on that. I would choose the Cowboys being successful.
And what your definition of success?
Winning record ?
Make it to the playoffs?
Actually winning a playoff game ?
Selling out the stadium ?
Merchandise ?
Selling more Tours ?

They do a great job with 5 of the above

I’m not knocking the coaching hires
Maybe you are correct
Maybe your not
But what I am is a realist don’t drink or pour the Koolaid

How did you feel, and this question goes to others as well.
When Jerry bought the team, and named Jimmy Johnson as HC?

I bet name were in an uproar and scratched their heads.
You are correct , there was a lot of Fans that stopped be fans because of Tom Landry
But I was not one of them
Though I loved TL the whole team and coaches needed to be overhauled
I loved the Johnson hire even though it was a tough 1st year

What if Brian really is the right guy, with the help of Eberflus. Who many fans wanted to be promoted to DC and then HC.
Eberflus can bring a toughness to the defense. As he did in Indy and Chicago. That can help the offense and they need it.

All fans wanted a younger HC, that could relate to the players better. Be somewhat innovative. Not saying that Schotty is that person.
But he is not a retread coach that many did not want anyway (but yet they complain Jerry did not go after any of them). Yes other candidates were out there. This seemed rushed all of a sudden after what seemed like Jerry was dragging his feet about it all.

But who are we fans to say who would be better, though we think we know. Moore? What qualifies Ben Johnson over anyone else, other than he actually has called plays with success for Detroit. But HC material, none of us knows. Carroll, Zimmer, Chucky?

I am not a big fan of this move. I did not like the way the FO went about this. We known their failures for years now. We will see how serious they are come FA to see if they are willing to actually improve the roster. Or is all of this for nothing, again.

I know what the answers and posts will be. Same old stuff that has been repeated 100 times in every thread.

So fellow Zoner's, here is a challenge. Think outside of that box in your head, and think ... what if he can be innovative and was held back by MM ...
Dallas should have interviewed Ben Johnson

Credential success places qualifications and potential into possible HC success works .

When the hot asst. candidates places offensive ..or defensive success in play with their respective teams
And when that happens,... other teams needing that element of coaching success will much covet a piece of that pie
Its not a Guarantee, and very much hit/miss but I'm strongly these teams want as close to quality credentials as possible

- Ben Johnson - Detroit Lions
- Kyle Shanahan - ATL to SF 49ers
- Sean McVey, Matt Lafluer, Lien Cohen, etc.
- Even such as Mike Martz St. Louis Rams - Greatest Show on Turf - from hot OC to HC

As well as defensive assts to HC as well. ala Dan Quinn, Arron Glenn, Sean McDermott, Mike McDonald (Seattle) ..etc.

Optimistic our best chance imo,.. is having the best coaches scheme - to add to best playmakers personnel wise

.. to a point, coach scheme can mask/help some flaws, if we have enuff proper player personnel.

- Aikman blames poor WR routes here in Dallas but if we have the right coach scheme, i think that helps our strength while masking/over-compensate our flaws.

- i don't think Lions WRs are precise route runners either, but their coach -scheme and play design is so advanced and fits so well with their personnel
that they don't have to require their routes to constantly beat their defenders one on one on an every down basis.
- i think their OL and run scheme, personnel makes best work for the Lions terrific run game
- I think their coach-scheme, commitment to run the ball, and player personnel puts Jared Goff in the best play action that best works his skill set,
