What if Brian Schottenheimer really is the right guy

Jerry conning fans for 30 years. This is why the Cowboys are the most valuable franchise and they always fall short. People buy the hype.
This team will be lucky to make the playoffs next season. If they do it will be a one and done.
The fans have not been conned.

If I were to bet on that. I would choose the Cowboys being successful.
And what your definition of success?
Winning record ?
Make it to the playoffs?
Actually winning a playoff game ?
Selling out the stadium ?
Merchandise ?
Selling more Tours ?

They do a great job with 5 of the above

I’m not knocking the coaching hires
Maybe you are correct
Maybe your not
But what I am is a realist don’t drink or pour the Koolaid

How did you feel, and this question goes to others as well.
When Jerry bought the team, and named Jimmy Johnson as HC?

I bet name were in an uproar and scratched their heads.
You are correct , there was a lot of Fans that stopped be fans because of Tom Landry
But I was not one of them
Though I loved TL the whole team and coaches needed to be overhauled
I loved the Johnson hire even though it was a tough 1st year

What if Brian really is the right guy, with the help of Eberflus. Who many fans wanted to be promoted to DC and then HC.
Eberflus can bring a toughness to the defense. As he did in Indy and Chicago. That can help the offense and they need it.

All fans wanted a younger HC, that could relate to the players better. Be somewhat innovative. Not saying that Schotty is that person.
But he is not a retread coach that many did not want anyway (but yet they complain Jerry did not go after any of them). Yes other candidates were out there. This seemed rushed all of a sudden after what seemed like Jerry was dragging his feet about it all.

But who are we fans to say who would be better, though we think we know. Moore? What qualifies Ben Johnson over anyone else, other than he actually has called plays with success for Detroit. But HC material, none of us knows. Carroll, Zimmer, Chucky?

I am not a big fan of this move. I did not like the way the FO went about this. We known their failures for years now. We will see how serious they are come FA to see if they are willing to actually improve the roster. Or is all of this for nothing, again.

I know what the answers and posts will be. Same old stuff that has been repeated 100 times in every thread.

So fellow Zoner's, here is a challenge. Think outside of that box in your head, and think ... what if he can be innovative and was held back by MM ...
Dallas should have interviewed Ben Johnson

Credential success places qualifications and potential into possible HC success works .

When the hot asst. candidates places offensive ..or defensive success in play with their respective teams
And when that happens,... other teams needing that element of coaching success will much covet a piece of that pie
Its not a Guarantee, and very much hit/miss but I'm strongly these teams want as close to quality credentials as possible

- Ben Johnson - Detroit Lions
- Kyle Shanahan - ATL to SF 49ers
- Sean McVey, Matt Lafluer, Lien Cohen, etc.
- Even such as Mike Martz St. Louis Rams - Greatest Show on Turf - from hot OC to HC

As well as defensive assts to HC as well. ala Dan Quinn, Arron Glenn, Sean McDermott, Mike McDonald (Seattle) ..etc.

Optimistic our best chance imo,.. is having the best coaches scheme - to add to best playmakers personnel wise

.. to a point, coach scheme can mask/help some flaws, if we have enuff proper player personnel.

- Aikman blames poor WR routes here in Dallas but if we have the right coach scheme, i think that helps our strength while masking/over-compensate our flaws.

- i don't think Lions WRs are precise route runners either, but their coach -scheme and play design is so advanced and fits so well with their personnel
that they don't have to require their routes to constantly beat their defenders one on one on an every down basis.
- i think their OL and run scheme, personnel makes best work for the Lions terrific run game
- I think their coach-scheme, commitment to run the ball, and player personnel puts Jared Goff in the best play action that best works his skill set,

Yeah what if...

What if flat earthers are right?
What if Dez caught the ball?
What if germany had won ww2?

So many usless questions.

What I see when someone calls themselves a realist = negative. Because that is what they always follow up with after saying they are a realist.
To me a "real" "realist" would also see some positives. Not saying you are one or the other, but seems a bit negative, but that is why we are here for.
Giving our opinions one way or another.

A winning record and making the playoffs would be success. I know many will say, but playoffs, playoffs, playoffs. Well, we will see what happens if they get there.
That is why we are fans. The ride to the playoffs, as the season unfolds.
If not for the injuries, we were a favorite to make the playoffs last year.

What if you weren't so negative all the time?
Try looking at the good things, and yes there are some good things. You just may feel better. Try it, I guarantee it will not hurt.

We do not know yet his influence on any coaches that will be hired.
It kinda seems like he's picking his own staff, at least mostly. He may get a few guys he didn't ask for, and Hell, I may be wrong with my first sentence, but I'm keeping an eye out.

I dont think i am negative. I am cynic when it comes to Dallas, just because that is the only way to handle those incompetence and ignorance there.
And no, nothing positive is happening there. Not, if you dont think that constant failure on every level of management is something positive.

I will also handle that kind of stupid posts this way here in this forum. If you dont like it, well, i cant help you. Dont read it as an answer doesnt work for you i guess since you are a mod.

And i dont think you are the one who should give advice to others (my subjective judgement when i read the stuff you post). Unless, of course, you are asked for it. Which i didnt do btw.
Usually giving advice without being asked about it has a feel of arrogance, feels patronizingly.

And no worries. There are enough good things that happen in my life. My life is great and thats the way i also feel.
We are all grown ups and all know that good things happen when you are responsible for your own stuff. Well not all, but most that i hang around with. Those others who dont want to grow up feel my cynicism if they try to take me to school.

Thats for that. Now walk on jog on, delete my post as you always do, when you are being critizised.

Wow, did I hit a nerve or something?
As you sure are not one to give advice either. Because it will always be negative. I know your history of posts as well. And we can win the SB. I can say it is a great game. And you would put down my post in some way. You always do and have done so for years. Whatever you hold against me for trying to be positive more than negative (which I am when need be), then that is on you, I have no concern about it. I will respond as I will, just as you will.

Glad your life is going well, mine is also.

Maybe the best word for me would be pessimistic
Yes we probably would have been closer to the playoffs if not for the injuries and the fact that we had learning curve with Zimmers defense
But Dak is not the answer

That is probably the biggest mistake they made signing him to the deal
He best year was when Tony was his personal coach
Once Tony went to the booth , Dak fell hard until they traded for Cooper
Dak told me everything I needed to know when he said he owed it to all the other QBs to get instead of allowing the team to surround him with people to help him win

Jerry said it best when he said he can’t give it all to one player and then sign the best guard or tackle to protect them

They’ve been close but just can’t over the hump
