What if Brian Schottenheimer really is the right guy

Has that been proven. And if so, why did not any of the other 7 teams looking for a HC not buy that out? How much was it?
I know, it is the fans wanting to hate on everything still.
Why did none of the other 7 teams looking for a HC not interview the Brian Schottenheimer?

@jazzcat22 - he will now get his chance & maybe he does surprise. I have nothing against the guy so it's not like him failing would validate me. The real issue is that we all know he didn't get chosen as part of some exhaustive search conducted by competent football people trying to put the best product possible on the field. He got chosen because he is chummy with the owners, is willing to accept the pay they are offering & the meddling and there was no competition for his services.
This a thousand times

Yes it has been proven. Google easily will show this typing it in. It is 10milion and honestly how would we know why the other teams wouldn’t buy that out? I guess we can assume and say they didn’t want him but outside of that we wouldn’t know.

And if Jerry paid out the $10 million would fans be happy. That is a stupid price and move to do.
we do not know if Bill would truly be better than Brian. What did Bill do without Brady?
What if another team bought it out. Would rams whine why didn’t Jerry do it.

Fans only want to hate on everything. If Jerry does it, it is stupid. If another owner does it, they are genius.

Honestly Jazz, and I have great respect for you, but what has Jerry done in the last 29 years to earn the benefit of the doubt?
It's almost like he is trying to poison our attitude towards him.
How bout the silly all in comments last off season followed up by doing mostly nothing.

Do you feel shotty was the best available?
The coordinators from the lions had greater potential in my opinion.
Heard the buy out was 10m for Belichick.

We're about to put 4 years into finding out if he has more to offer than just saying, "Yes sir, I'll get right on it Mr, Jones, sir.

I don’t think the defense is bad overall.

I think there are a few elite players (Micah, Overshown), several great/good players (Diggs, Bland, Liafau). What they need to do is nail on DT and MLB
I’m hoping we bring Kendrick back. He can still play and is very smart player. We’ve got to get a DT and we can’t hope and pray in the draft. I’d sign Golston and go get be a DT in FA, and draft one if you can. DT is hard to draft and to me it’s too important not to go sign a guy. Jerry probably won’t brcause they cost money but that could be a game changer if he did

Here’s why it doesn’t matter who the head coach is….the last 7 coaches couldn’t get us beyond this embarrassment:

Last NFC Championship Game appearance:
  • Dallas Cowboys, 1995
  • - Chicago Bears, 2010
  • - New York Giants, 2011
  • - Seattle Seahawks, 2014
  • - Carolina Panthers, 2015
  • - Arizona Cardinals, 2015
  • - Atlanta Falcons, 2016
  • - Minnesota Vikings, 2017
  • - New Orleans Saints, 2018
  • - Green Bay Packers, 2020
  • - Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 2020
  • - Los Angeles Rams, 2021
  • - Philadelphia Eagles, 2022
  • - San Francisco 49ers, 2023
  • - Detroit Lions, 2023
  • - Washington Commanders, 2024
Bob give the guy a chance, we know Jerry is there and little Stevie but let’s see how goes for a year. After 5 of MM and 10 of JG anything is possible

Really has nothing to do with Jerry on how Schotty will be. Well, it does if he provides players in FA this year. His all in comments then do nothing approach was sheer stupidity.
But Brian can be the guy if given a chance. Will Jerry do that though. We do not know yet, a wait and see approach.

Jerry has done nothing to give himself that benefit of the doubt. But Schotty should get it for now.

I don't know if he was the best available. I would have liked to have seen others interviewed. As I said we don't know if he or Johnson or Glenn or who ever will be better than the other.
But Johnson has the upper hand as he has a young QB to work with. Scotty is strapped already.

I'm sorry, but Jerry just needs to get out of the way. I was hoping for Sanders but knew it wouldn't happen.

I don't think anyone really has anything against the guy. And maybe he is the right pick - but you have to be honest and put the full context there: "What if he is the right pick, even though Jerry chose him for all the wrong reasons?" Basically we're hoping Jerry has inadvertently hired the right guy. More than that, we're hoping he stumbled into exactly the guy who can overcome the avalanche of obstacles Jerry puts in the way of any coach succeeding. I'd say the odds on that are long.

That would be good, but do you feel he should have hired outside of the organization? It just seems hiring within isn't going to help move the needle forward. I could be wrong of course, and we will have to wait and see.

We do know this,

a lot of bill belichick's coaching trees ,not all of them ,but most of them have been bad everywhere else, they've been you know how many times they've had to bring them back into the fold after they failed elsewhere....

so, he don't pick coordinators very well not in my opinion...

so, you guys are right if Bill Belichick was that hot a ticket, why didn't it become that simple for somebody else to bring him in, you know pay the buyout?

most NFL teams will not pay a buyout from a college head coach ,even though he hasn't coached there yet, and he's been in the NFL it's not worth the buyout nobody was going to buy out Steve sarkisian or any of those other guys right now because they had better options in their opinion or at least equal parallel options...

I think the big problem here is people wanna blame Jerry for not making that move without saying hey the rest of the league also didn't make the move, but here's easy it's common sense if you read things that were said bill Belichick's wife or girlfriend or fiancé whatever she is , came out and said they're already a little bit too committed in the process getting homes and building out the staff and setting up their life over there that it's not realistic for them to turn around and change all that..

But from where I sit that means he wasn't really that available just like Dion Sanders, he would've had to been convinced, and I mean wine dined and shined over here, they would've had to beg for him to leave Colorado... they had to make it into a parade!! he was not ready to move to the NFL he said it and anybody who thought that that was like a truly realistic candidate not at this time and also the bad rumors about Witten,

Witten was never coming to this team he wasn't being forced on Mike McCarthy Mike McCarthy wasn't being held up he got his interviews with Chicago got his interview with the Saints and he also was not that hot a ticket everyone around here is thinking he stuck it to Jerry no Jerry made-up his mind he wanted changes like McCarthy was unwilling to make those changes and here we are.

So much that said on the Internet are just rumors, it's like a bad case of telephone, and by the time it gets to the masses it's all wrong the details are lost the facts are lost and here it is..
here we sit and we've gotten endorsements by schottenheimer's peers the people he's coached under or coached with or was above they've all endorsed and they said he's a solid guy and that everybody should give him a chance and yet everybody keeps acting like this is Dave Campbell yes that's the narrative I keep hearing is this is the next coming of day campo I mean that's gotta be the worst take I've ever seen...

I don't remember Dave Campo running an offense for three years that was on full throttle with Russell Wilson in Seattle and I'm not saying that Brian Schottenheimer is some boy genius super coordinator as an OC but when you have your quarterback throwing at around 68% and he throws 105 touchdowns and only 25 interceptions and their winning games and his second year with Brian Schottenheimer he was an all pro , all three years he was a pro bowler... It didn't seem like campo to me,

I mean Schottenheimer is at least has somewhat of a resume.. And I to be honest don't remember what Dave Campbell used to do but I'm pretty sure he was just a special teams guy or something a special assistant? Campo is not that experienced, it didn't even come from a coaching tree Marty schottenheimer is a very well-known successful head coach.. I'm sure his son has a little of something taken from that experience of having your father do well you know like the Ryan brothers with buddy Ryan I mean it says you have a little bit more to offer than campo..

I don't even remember but he did also we were in a spot where we didn't even have any players that time, we tripped in to seven wins last year playing mostly backups, and people act like we're about to go into some early 2000 Detroit lion/ Cleveland brown mode because of this hire and I don't get it..

I feel he should have tried to get the absolute best coach he could. Clearly that was not done. So what we are hoping is that even though he made no real attempt to get the best coach he could (be it BS or someone from the outside), we have to hope he accidentally got the best coach.
