What are you talking about? Dak was not lost for the season last year.

I thought this was a thread about losing the starting WB for the season
We didn't know the extent of the injury at first...but don't get too distracted about details.

People that said "tank the season now" as soon as he left the field...would have effected our whole season.

No I would never say ‘tank the season’. The reality is just that any team will be much closer the that top 10 draft pick if their starter goes down

I actually see this happening this year. I don't have a crystal ball and don't believe in any sort of divination, BUT...past is prologue. Dak is going to hurt himself trying too hard to prove himself worthy. I think Trey starting is not a hypothetical question.

That said, if we are in serious playoff contention, Jerry goes with Cooper Rush given the state of the NFC. With Jordan Love and other QBs due to emerge, Dak won't have this window for long. Jalen Hurts....who looked god awful the year prior in his 1st playoff appearance ...was in the SB and looked damned good. Dak had better step it up or step off.

But you see...that is what you wanted!

You wanted us to have "that top 10 draft pick when our starter went down".

Coop played well enough, along with our defense...to SAVE the season for a possible playoff run.

Which we never did. No top 10 draft pick and no playoff run. Suckage.

You also raise another good point we seldom visit. Usually...rookie starting QBs go to bad teams that tank their season. Dak had a VERY good 2016 team.

I'm in the weeds here I know. How my brain works.

Cooper for a few games….I think he’d be a bus driver and they’d win ugly or barely scrape by so he’d be on a short leash and I’d get trey lance in there for 6-8 games minimum to see what we have.

Also horrible karma making this thread lol

Dude… You are way out of your reckoning here. I am Eagles fan. I never ‘wanted’ anything. You are clearly confusing me with someone else.

But if you would like to know… I will tell you. If Dak went down for the season early on, I would much prefer the Cowboys to stay relevant and finish around .500. Bad enough to miss the playoffs, but good enough to not draft too high

AH...by george...you are correct my good man. I DID confuse you with someone else....a Cowboys fan.

You but of course wanted us to tank the season. We lose AND waste a high pick. Win win, right?

We've given you enough average seasons already....so no on yet another .500.

I will try to remember your name and MO moving forward. Eagles fan on a Cowboys Fan Message board. It's counterintuitive to me so...have patience please!

As long as we are dealing PURELY in hypotheticals, What if you were driving and an 18 wheeler ....................................................................................

Nevermind.

See how hypotheticals go. Dak's ability to feed his family would be compromised, His ability to play football would be compromised, Dallas would go from Super Bowl contender

to just another team, and we'd win maybe 5 games

You don't know that. Everyone said the same thing would happen when Romo went down in 2016.

As far as Dak and his family, if his career ended today he would never have to work another day in his life if he manages his money well. He has millions upon millions in the bank. His family won't starve, so thanks for the hyperbole

Rush starts, but if it isn't working you try Lance. Also depends on how well Lance develops over the season, and when the injury occurs within the season. Either way, I'd bet our season is over.

Troy Lance isn't an NFL starter right now so you go with Rush. Don't know why anyone would root for a Dak injury. We have to know one way or another about Dak. If he plays awful it will be time to move on. Jerry's not going to do that with an injury unless Lance completely blows him away.

Even if rush played all 17 games I'd expect dallas to make the playoffs. The nfc is really weak last year and this year.

ok hypothetically Dak blows out his knee early in the year. are you rolling with CRush or Lance for the rest of the year. i’m seeing a lot of hypotheticals on here so i’m adding to the thread count.

I'm rolling with Rush, but our running game better be lethal, because Rush will only average around 110, 120 yards passing.
