I certainly hope Romo has a very successful career. BUT a projected career cannot hinge on the accomplishments attained in less than a full regular season. Can it?

I want to wait on Romo to excel beyond what he has demonstrated so far before making him into a superstar. Yet, if Oakland would go for that trade, more power to them. If they were to offer that crazy trade, Jerry Jones should demand that they sweeten it up even more as someone else suggested on this thread. Why not? Romo's all that, ain't he?

but your losing site of your original point, you suggested Romo's value is that of an undrafted free agent. You didnt say he is too inepxereienced or we are not sure if he will keep it up, etc you just said and Im paraphrasing "youre not getting a #1 pick for a 2nd rounder and a undrafted player."
They should no longer simply be seen in the light They are now a 1000 yard runner and a pro bowl qb.

No, I didn't lose sight of my original point. IMO, Romo is an undrafted quarterback who had a great, less than complete season. Jones was a second rounder who finally achieved a 1,000 yard season in his third year as a pro following two injury-plague seasons.

IF both players can 1) duplicate their success from last season and 2) improve upon their success, I may change my mind on the combined trade value of both players. Until then, nope.

No way in hell do we get rid of Romo! I can't believe you would even consider that!

thank god your not coach...why in the world would you trade a player like Romo whos already showen great things at this level...and a chance to even sharpen his skills and to get better, since hes so young.... i understand if we just discovered him at age 29 or 30....but the guy is young...and already has shown skills to hang with the best...and with more practice to maybe become the best for atleast 7 years to come...why would you put your faith and season in somebody who already had a shot in the NFL and hasnt done nothing but be medicore his several years here? or better yet put your faith in the hands of a rookie who might end up being a bust, with low confidence, and just not able to compete at all??

so basically your telling me you would jump in a plane...that has never been tested or has never been flown VS a plane that has been tested like America Airlines, and has done good, but because you heard about a crash the other day.....your gonna go ahead and take your chanes with an unproven plane? ok good luck to ya

I think the point to this thread is, is Romo really that great? IMO, I don't know if Romo is that great, but I'm willing to find out. To me, a #1 pick received is no good, if you don't have a QB.

Is Quinn or Russell better than Romo? Don't know. But I do know that Romo had a pretty good 1st outing and you have to assume this is a diamond in the rough. So I'm saying I wouldn't make the trade personally.

umm...

That's a nice rant and all, but... I'm not the one who suggested trading away Romo or Jones on this thread.

The key to our draft is landing John Beck? That may be the single dumbest statement ever written. I really don't mean to offend you but I want you to really think about that statement.

Now pull up Microsoft Word and type "I will not type silly statements" 100 times.

Good post. If we want Adrian Peterson, I might do it. The key to our draft is landing John Beck. Beck & Peterson.....I might just do it.
You do realize that means Brad Johnson would be the starter, right?

Do you make this trade? Romo and Julius Jones for the top pick in the draft? Personally, I would turn it down.

This is just a hypothetical question. Slow day with little football news.

What if this was never created?

I would do the trade, considering both are free agents after next year.
