What is New England plotting with their 60M of cap space?

It is a QB HC duo that makes them so dominant and when the QB is the best to ever play the game you don't have to have talent everywhere else. I would think they will make some future cap friendly deals and remember they like vets
That they do. They find them and plug them into their role. Nobody else can do it as effectively.

they get to be the gold standard because they had brady for 20 years.
that allowed them to have a lot of cap advantages and drafting advantages other do not.
we now have our Brady and some parts to go with him. Fun times ahead

Nonsense. I have done the calculations.

I see this every year. People drinking the Kool aid about how we can do whatever we want in FA and the cap is not a problem.

The cap has been a problem every year. Yes, I know we can create space. We just created a huge amount of space using the only two restructures that make sense. Unfortunately all we get for the space created is the ability to cover a huge cap hit for a QB that wont even be playing for us.

Now we get to extend Witten who is old, restructure Lee who has a history of injuries, restructure Dez who already has a cap hit that exceeds his production.
That should create enough space to sign some of our own like Church and Carr. Two middling players.

Maybe we can make Tyrone Crawfords future cap hits even more disastrous so that we can sign another Mayowa type or Thornton.

Nonsense. I have done the calculations.

here is your calculation again for 5 year $75M contract $15M AAV 25M signing bonus:

Base salary ---------- $1----$1----- $1----- $12.25 -$12.25
Signing bonus -------$5 ---$5----- $5 -----$5-------- $5
Yr 2 restruct bonus --------$2.81 $2.81- $2.81---- $2.81
Yr 3 restruct bonus -----------------$3.75- $3.75---- $3.75
Year totals ------------$6---- $9---- $13---- $23.81-- $23.81

signing bonus per year = $25M/5 = $5M
to turn yr 2 salary to $1M - use yr 2 restructuring bonus = ($75M - $25M - $1M)/4 = $2.81M
to turn yr 3 salary to $1M - use yr 3 restructuring bonus = ($75M - $25M - $1M)/3 = $3.75M

my calculations do not extend witten - he only has 1 year left.
if dez is no good, it really does not matter since we are not winning without a wr1
this all works due to romo and the escalating cap working together
this has never happened before...

Who is it that you want to sign that will have 24 mil cap hits in years 4 and 5?

i used to have one of those when the cowboys lost to rams in the playoffs
i guess that means you accept the numbers but dont like the conclusions
No, I just don't care to talk about silly hypotheticals that won't happen.

If you enjoy crunching numbers for no reason, well that just means you really really really like math.

what i want is obvious - DL that demands a double team. and a CB or S like Bouye or Berry, assuming they are not franchised.

I like Berry quite a bit but if he has a cap hit 5 years from now that is 24 mil I say, no thanks.

so you dont believe the cowboys would try to get a real DL this year even when they darn well know they need one?
if you accept that, then it is the DB.
do you resign Mo who cannot stay healthy or get someone who can and plays well?

no, i am not a quant.
i made myself do it because people are making statements that are simply wrong.
