What is Parcells biggest failure so far?

Partial credit to JJ for this one. Didn't he give Zim a raise for turning down the Nebraska job?

Are you kidding...his biggest failure so far is clearly OL and just about every single move he's made there. We hope this year will be better, but there's no guarantee.
No, I'm serious because I believe the O-line will be better this year and you can always find competent offensive linemen. Injuries killed our OL last year and that hurt a lot. Franchise QBs are much harder to find and develop.

Thats a joke; I really wish people would knock of the Zimmer junk.

To me, BP biggest failure was working with what was here the first year. He should have done like he has done everywhere else and started turning it into his team right away.

I respectfully disagree. To develop an offesive line into a solid cohesive unit takes about as long as developing a franchice QB (3 years). I mean tell David Car how easy it is or Archie Manning. It's obvious to me that you don't undertand the trust and intellgence involved in playing oline in the NFL. Trust takes time. I wish it were as easy as you think. That said, you can always get lucky and I hope we are this year.

This has been his biggest success actually.
no doubt about it.

it's laughable that fans thought our 4-3 was anything but mediocre

I like BP, but if I had to choose his biggest falure, it would have to be OL. Rogers is a bust. Rivera was way overpaid. Johnson is marginal at best. We spent alot of time and enegy on Tucker and he didn't give much back. Ryan Young lasted a year on a three year contract. His first oline coach was fired. He's had three years to build this Oline and I don't think he's done a very good job.

I pretty much agree...3yrs here and our OL is worse now than before he got here...Rogers and Peterman are busted 1st day picks...Rivera was horrible...Al Johnson is a borderline bust...we will never win anything until we can gain 3-4yds running the ball consistently and keep the QB upright more often than not...

I dont agree its his biggest failure but please, Zimmer has been painfully average at best so far...his defenses never rush the passer with any consistency, we dont stop the run with any consistency and the defense has 6yrs running track record of blowing 4th qtr leads...we keep adding talented players but the results are all pretty much the same..hopefully it will be different this yr

any other franchise would have fired him 2 or 3 yrs ago

why? he won didn't he? he did what bill asked didn't he? Romo and henson both at the same time right now can't hold quincys jock strap

and you know that how exactly, has either of them had a shot

and stop with the "Quincy won didnt he"...thats garbage...that team won 10 games in spite of his MEDIOCRE to POOR play, not because of it

and if he had done what Bill asked, do you think he'd be signing a 2yr deal with the CFL right now after being out of the NFL last yr?

1) Mismanagement of the OL
2) Moving Torrin Tucker to Tackle from his natural position, Guard
3) Not cutting QC the second he took over
4) letting Delhomme get away
5) Jacob Rogers esp over Nathan Vasher
6) BJ Tucker, Justin Bates, Zuriel Smith vs K Josh Brown and Cato June
7) Not firing Sporano
8) Not fixing the FS position two years ago
9) not winning a playoff game yet and not making the playoffs last season
10) not getting rid of the previous scouting dept soon enough
11) Kicker, firing Hoffman
12) personal life/manboobs/bleached hair

Biggest successes
1) Drew Bledsoe
2) JJ trade that netted Spears
3) D Ware
4) Terry Glenn handling and trade to get him
5) Key
6) exponentially enhancing the overall talent level on the team
7) Hiring Jeff Ireland
8) TNew
9) changing the overall team mentality

Zim is learning a new defense just like the players so really you need to cut him slack. I mean Zim was a 4-3 most of his career, you can't expect a leopard to change his spots overnight without a few screw ups.

IMO his biggest failure is our inability to run the ball consistentely. The OL has simply not gotten it done and has stunted our RB's ability to rack up yards. There has not been one OL that has developed into anything credible at this point

I know we've had a ton of these Parcells threads and I am a Parcells supporter and hope he stays 2 more years. Having said that, I wonder in what area you guys feel Parcells has failed Jerry Jones most since he's been here?

For me, it has been how Bill has handled the whole Drew Henson situation. As I posted in the Henson experiment thread, I believe Bill let Jerry down the most at the end of 2004 when at 5-7 he chose to keep playing Vinny over Henson. At that time, Henson needed (and still does) playing time. I don't care that he hadn't played any meaningful games since 2000. The season was over at that point (did anyone here really believe the '04 team was playoff caliber?) and I feel it was Bill's responsibility to start looking at this team's future and he didn't do it. This has stuck in my craw as being Bill's worst offense since he's been here. He could have played Henson the rest of that season regardless of results and the fans/media wouldn't have said a peep. Why? Because it would show a conscious look toward the future by the coach when he promised that as part of his mission the day he was hired. I know Parcells wants to win every game and that's an admirable quality when you have a legitimate playoff contender but it becomes an albatross when you are trying to play out the string and look at your future. Because Bill was stubborn about Vinny then, this team still has no clue who the future of this franchise is after Bledsoe is done. They are still in the same spot today in regard to a franchise QB as they were in January 2005 in Giants Stadium and to me that is not progress. That's why I feel Bill's biggest failure as coach of the Cowboys is in this area. He left the Patriots with Bledsoe, he left the Jets with Pennington (pre-injury). Both were very good franchise QB prospects. Unless Henson turns out to be that guy here, (because I don't think Romo is) he will leave us with nothing and to me that will mark a lot of his tenure here as a failure. I hope I'm wrong and Henson magically develops this preseason but I'm not sure. And no, I don't see us drafting a QB very high in this draft.

I would say Parcells biggest failure was Vinny Testicleverde. That was a total waste of a season and by his not playing Henson and Romo after we were no longer playoff contenders it set us back in knowin if Henson or Romo showed something or not.

His next biggest failure is keeping Mike Zimmer as DC. I can only dream of how many more pressures sacks and turnovers this team would have if we had a DC who knew how to run a defense.

I am not sure what to think of the Drew Henson thing. I have seen nuff clips of Henson now where I can see why Parcells tried to change Hensons throwing motion. Yes Henson is looking good in NFLE and his stats should be much better but his WRs keep dropping passes and do not run good routes.

But the problem I see with Henson is he will get a all kindsa passes batted down in the NFL if he keeps that throwing motion. Unless Henson comes more over the top by the end of NFLE I would not be at all surprised to see Parcells make a big move for Jay Cutler. We would have to move up for him but Parcells might just do it so he can leave our team with a QB of the future.

I think Parcells other big mistake was Marco Rivera. Almost as bad as Vinny.

BP's biggest failire is not wearing a "bro" lmao and not fixing the o-line

Yeah right, his 4-3 defense was just like David explain earlier.

It would not matter if the NFL allowed only Mike Zimmer to have 15 men on the field instead of 11. He would still play a soft bend dont break defense and never pressure QBs.

If we had a good DC I am sure that Ware woulda had 10 to 14 sacks his rookie year.

BDC overall I think Parcells has brought more talent to this team and will bring more but things just have not come together. I expected more. If Parcells can get us in the playoffs and win a play off game or 2 then that would really change how I think of him. We dont have to win the SUper Bowl. Just a playoff game or 2 and that would make me real happy and believe alot more in BP.

Wrong! Bill got rid of Quincy Carter! That was one of his best moves! I'll take Romo or Henson over Quincy Carter any day of the week.

Based on what? The ignorance kills me.
