What is Sam Williams doing here?

Sort of sad that a late signing like Clowney is taking away all their snaps. Although I'm glad we have him. Reminds me of that year fans were desperate to see Jason Peters play because of the Oline struggles. Although Clowney has a lot more left in the tank.

Sam has low football IQ. He is what he is and I doubt he’s back next year.
The video posted doesn't show it...

But he is the worst at honoring his role to contain his side of the field...he's so easily fooled with play action because he crashes too hard on early downs. I don't think his pass rush prowess is worth his low IQ on early downs. I'd only play him on obvious passing downs. And even then, sparingly. At this point, I'd rather see Fowler or Houston with Ez or Osa.

Sam williams, if only your talking off the field matched what you are showing on the field you would be a very rich man. You should be ashamed that a rookie, houston and clowney are putting on much better tape than you.

What is he doing here lol

The guys just continues to ignore/mess up on his assignment.
Is Fowler still slightly injured or something? Now way Sam should get more snaps than any other DE.

This play shows the benefit of quality players. Clark essentially got that sack for Odig. His pressure up the middle forced Smith outside where Odig was able to track him down.

Better DTs and some of the edge guys looking better like EZ. Plus Clowney getting more snaps.

Someone has to get less reps. Maybe same is the odd man out right now.

Seem to indicate earlier that they were trying to dumb down the defense for some of the players. Maybe that is sam's problem.

I did notice that the secondary did not look as lost last night but then again the Raiders passing game was through the TEs and the RB.
When the secondary does not have to panic about the run game it makes their job a lot easier.

He had a few plays that made me ask myself what is he seeing? Every time Geno held onto the ball, he was blindly biting down giving up the outside so Geno could complete pass after pass.

He needs to have his snaps cut way down.

“Meal Seekers” is dumb, lol

A lot of draft capitol went into the position of DE, a #1 and three #2s.

The #1 is gone. Tragically a #2 is gone. Williams is playing next to two Pro Bowl level DT's perhaps even three. It's not like he is the one getting double teamed.

The only contributor of these four high draft picks seems to be the rookie. However, for all the early hype, he's had two sacks and averages one QB hit a game.

Maybe they should just switch to four DTs. or three and Houston.

remember when we drafted him and he was awesome?

that was a fun afternoon.

I couldn't agree more. Just started my own Houston thread - wondering why he isn't higher up on the depth chart.
Sam has done nothing. Even worse, he's a stupid penalty waiting to happen. I thought he was going to be a big time pass rusher. I expected him to step up big after the Parsons trade. What a huge disappointment he is.
I have him behind EZE, Houston, Clowney and Fowler on my depth chart, but Cowboys have him high and he keeps getting to play more than others for some reason. As far as Im concerned, they could have shipped him out to the Jets with Mazi. 2 failures gone.
Its like him and Diggs is part of the Parson's clan and they don't care and their play shows. He needs to ride the pine also.

Looks like he’s getting blocked to me

Not a fan or hater of his, he’s just a jag, but ya he’s getting blocked

Sam isn't really a smart guy; if he can find the field from the sidelines, that is a positive.

He was good in college. But I think he is an example of winning reps in college based on strength and not refined technique to go with it. It doesn’t look like he has progressed.
He really had me convinced he was going to take a big step this year. SMH

Another 2nd rounder bites the dust..
This myth of the Cowboys drafting well is starting to peter out......seems like they've got just as many misses as the rest of the NFL teams
