What is the answer on defense?

A cover specialist like Daryl Washington at LB would have come in handy. He was also a good blitzer and had great hands for INT.

Well we have Wilson and even Durant has been good in the past at covering.

Jaylon is still a rookie, so I still have hope he'll turn out to be an excellent player. This team is still hurting for a good D line, and I believe we've gone backwards in the secondary. The secondary already wasn't great last season, but I believe it's gone from average to poor. It's gonna be a defensive draft.

Secondary has upside and Scandrick was out.

We might need to blow it up and bring in a new coach....

Its been years with the same results... There is talent in that defense this isnt 2013 anymore

An entire season of getting their butts beat, then a good draft. The experience will do the young ones good. Perhaps Jerry will figure out a way to manufacture a pass rush through FA and the draft.

Hurry up Irving. Get off suspension.

We were bad at every phase of defense and the only positive that came out of that game was Demarcus Lawrence..

Anyways..

Stopping the run was the #1 issue yesterday. If we can't stop the run then it's pretty much game over for our defense. We were #1 against the run last year so hopefully McClains departure didn't hurt us that much.

The quick passing was the next thing we couldn't stop..

IMO, the linebackers looked lost trying to cover in the middle of the field and then our DB's gave them whatever they wanted in the flats.

Yesterday we needed more Damien Wilson on the field then Jaylon Smith. I know Jaylon is playing good against the run but Lee was lumbering around out there trying to cover and Jaylon was even worse.

I don't know what we are going to do against any team going forward that has a stout run game and an efficient quick passing game.

Experience.

They are very young.

Some reinforcements are on the way. DEs Moore and Irving, LB Hitchens and CB Scandrick.

Scandy coming back will help a lot I think, it will give us a legit pass defender something we didn't have that much of last week, also playing a little press coverage so they don't nickel and dime us to death will help a ton.

What we are going to do is change or die.

Simple.

Haven't read the thread, but in case no one already said it, you can start by making all of your CBs active for the game when you're already down one.

Well, we still have 14 games to see how this young defense plays out.

Cutting Nolan Carroll could only immediately improve team morale.
