Washington has a QB cap hit of 9.4 million per season.

Dallas is in a different situation .

This, meaning that they have lots of cap room to get better players around the QB and the defense .
Bunch of teams paying their QBs big money and still performing despite what is or what’s not around them.

5-2. You are what your record says you are
True, but the opponents in 4 of their 5 wins have a combined total record of 6-21. Even taking the 4 losses to Washington off the ledger, they’re still 6-17. That’s top 6-7 in the draft material.

Washington is playing hard and well, certainly much, much, much better than Dallas. But their record is greatly aided by playing some of the worst teams. That, by the way, will include Dallas if things don’t change.

We lost a great coach , Quinn was a great coach here .

Jerry didn't do his job and he didn't resign him .
I think he chose the right time to get out of Dallas.

He is a great coordinator. But in Dallas they were starting to make him the scapegoat for our defensive inability to stop the run.
The problem of course lies somewhere else. We all know that the FO denies to adress the DT spot.

Now we have Mike "i was panicking" Zimmah.

Some here were so pumped to get rid of DQ and have someone who will solve all our problems.

Well that panned out.

Blimey! In me naive days --- oh, maybe December 2023 --- I knew the future was always bright with a reliable 2 wins against Washington and other wins from weak sisters in 2024.

Today, unruly men, I see The Commanders demolishing an albeit weak Carolina 40-7.
As evidenced by today's game, there is some stirring among the new blood in the NFL.
Seattle, Vikings, Lions, Packers, Bucs. Aggressive in FA, the draft and on the field.

Good teams develop and mature, succeed then decline. Look at Washington. The Cowboys, it seems, rarely rebuild as it did in 1990. The Cowboys just reload with flashy, costly players. And depth? The Lord will provide. WHAT DID WE THINK WOULD HAPPEN WITH SEQUEL BACK? ... Ahem, composure.

I feel we as fans and the team have entered a dull, stagnant era of below-average NFL football. It would definitely give us a better draft pick than 12-5 seasons, but being Raiders-esque would be an undying embarrassment.

Back to the Commanders. good lads.
Jayden Daniels went out early in the game against the Panthers and Marcus Mariota (depth, again) stepped in and supercharged Washington with 18-23 205 yards 2 TDs.

Beware the Commanders, formally known as The Commodes.

This is what happens when you take your time hide in the shadows and build a team from the bottom up. All of a sudden they’re dangerous.

Zimmer is a downgrade over DQ. We downgraded everywhere. Would’ve preferred Rex Ryan, but he turned down the job because of money. Zimmer was probably one of the few experienced DC’s that would take the job under a lame duck head coach. The entire staff will be gone after this season.
Wonder how many times a Lame Duck head coachwas signed to a big new contract? The answer I suspect is never.

PS. Our D is far worse this year then last year. Loss of talent and injuries. Couple that with less talent on Offense and bingo, you have a mediocre team. I suspect we finish 3rd in our division this year and win less then half our games and miss the playoffs. We just are pretty lousy.

Dallas won those kinda games against the same kind of opponents and it was everyone saying “they ain’t beat nobody”

The only 2 good team they played they were handled

Now me wishing Quinn was still here his defense in Washington is the same as it was here, feast on the weak offense and get demolished by good to great offenses

Their turnaround on offense though is quite simply amazing though..they have a tough stretch coming up that’ll let us know who they really are

They are on the up and up though

What’s happening? They ran their owner out of town and put new people in charge. Wish we could say the same. Someone look for some emails from Jerry! :muttley:

They are better.....but yesterday.....that was the Panthers. It was a "Homecoming Game". Andy Dalton is the same one that played for the Cowboys. However, the Commanders should be respected. Live in the DMV witnessing happy feelings and laughter coming my way (All good).

It’s similar to Daks rookie season.

Perfect combination of new talent, 4th place schedule and playing good ball.

They only have 5 teams with winning records on their schedule. They lost to Tampa and Baltimore.

They still have to play Chicago, Atlanta and Philly. Not exactly a bunch of juggernauts

Teams have not figured out their offensive scheme yet. Once that happens with Chicago and Pittsburgh on horizon, they will come back down to earth. Reminds me of when Lamar replaced Flacco for the Ravens.

I'm not surprised at all by what is happening in Washington. The only part that is surprising me is that DQ has turned that defense around since the Cincinnati game without a ton of talent on the roster. He has one of the worst CB groups in the league and is missing Armstrong and Payne from the front four. Washington actually let DQ go grab some real LBs instead of going with Jerry's draft day bargains he fell in love with.

We can talk about the weak schedule all we want, but at 5-2 right now they only need to play 500 ball the rest of the way to get to 10 wins, which should have a good chance to win this division.

Nothing.

They're better than I thought they'd be but they are just beating up on terrible teams. They've gotten smoked by the only good teams they've played.

Look at what Washington did in the offseason. Of course you can do that when you have a rookie QB. But they had a bad offensive line last year and they went out and signed better offensive linemen. Now their offensive line is protecting their QB and opening holes in the running game. Having a solid offensive line can turn a bad offense into a very good one.

They also have a last place schedule so they play a lot of weak teams. Still they did a good job against Baltimore.

Washington is an example of Jerry's failure as a GM. He refuses to do what Washington, and so many other teams are willing to do. He will not use free agency to fill holes in his roster. The team needed to stop the run and run the football better and we knew that going into the offseason. Instead of signing players to do that, Jerry let 4 defensive linemen walk in free agency, did practically nothing to replace them, and now they are worse defending the run than they were last year, and they have no pass rush.

We couldn't run the football and Jerry signed Zeke to fix it. See the difference?

The thing is their offensive scheme really isnt that complicated, they're mostly just winning 1v1 matchups and have a dual threat QB to neutralize what a defense can throw at them. Thats where it could change as they face more talented defenses who can actually take away some of what they do, but also what has made this run impressive showing that they at least have an average roster on that side of the football.

It’s probably happened, but I can’t think of any. Anytime you allow a coach or player to play out the final year of their contract there’s some doubts about continuing on with them and you want them to earn a new contract. It’s pretty obvious our defense is worse than last year. It currently ranks worse than our 2020 defense under Mike Nolan. I don’t see us making the playoffs this year and third in the NFC East sounds about right.

Lol yea but they still aren’t the Dallas cowboys and we are so we are better than them! How much are they worth? Not as much as Dallas is! Go Jerrah!
