What is with coaches wearing ties and suits?

Does not matter to me but I thought both coaches looked sharpe out there. It should be up to each coach if he wants to wear a suite or not.

I have seen old pictures of baseball managers wearing suits. I don't know when they started wearing the unis. I believe as the other poster already pointed out, it transistioned from whith guys who were player/coaches.

I like the suits. I didn't think they looked out of place.

To me it's like going into a restaurant and seeing some doofus sitting there still wearing their baseball cap.

I'd like to walk over and just slap it off their head.

You better bring a friend with you. You will be pulling back a stub. :laugh2:

Ive been to plenty of small holes in the wall where they dressed pretty casually but had amazing food and others where they were dressed to the hilt but their food was terrible. I am more in substance then outward appearance. :)

Billicheck looks like he just stepped out of one of those Gieco commercials where they are are poking fun at "neanderthal man". Guess who mumbles looks like when he wears that rag?

:laugh1: :laugh2: I wonder if he orders the duck with mango sauce.

Mumbles looked terrible with that old sweatshirt. I think it might be one of those superstition things where he does well when wearing that shirt so he just keeps wearing it even though it is wore out and crappy looking.

I like the suits idea and I said last year that as soon as a league approved manufacturer would make a suit the coaches could wear one on the sidelines...that seems to be what is happening with Reebok and frankly I am surprised they have not done it before now.

The one thing I will say that they may need to work on is a different headset, one that does not look as bulky as that was the only thing that looked out of place with Del Rio on the sideline.

He was in a nice looking suit but had that bulky head set on.

Mumbles and the monk look, lovely. Bet if he wore a suit he'd cut the sleeves and collar off that too

Than after tearing off the cap you realize the person is wearing it because they are going through chemo or they have an unsightly injury.

On a serious note, if someone came over to me and slapped my hat off like that they would be eating through a staw that is inserted in their anus the rest of their life because I would probably kick their arse so hard they would have four cheeks on their face. Now if someone came over and asked me nicely if I would remove my hat, that would probably be another story.:D

Oh I agree. There are people that do need a hat for whatever reason. My angst is for the people that can and know better but don't. :)

I just don't have a problem with that personally.

If it drives some people nuts because someone else is wearing a hat while eating they have bigger problems in life to worry about IMO.

I could possibly see it if it is in some UPSCALE restaurant (no not olive garden or less restaurant) that requires someone to wear a sports jacket or something...but otherwise I think it is just some silly old manner that holds no bearing.

About the only thing that bothers me in a restaurant is if I go into the bathroom to wash my hands before eating and see someone leaving, after using the restroom, without washing...only to later see them somewhere in the restaurant eating...that just gives me the creeps.

I liked the option of wearing a suit as a head coach.. What I don't like is that they have to be from Reebok.. and that they are almost like a uniform because of that. What is wrong with lettign the coaches wear whatever suit they want so that they can show some of their own style or personal flair. Unless Reebok has like 30 styles to choose from then I think it's almost as bad as wearing the "sports gear" .

The fact that it's all about money and advertising kind of eats at you a bit.. well , at least me.

They need to exclude the coaches from the Reebok deal, and reserve that for the players uniforms.

Jerry Jones played a big part in this when he started signing his own endorsment deals with Pepsi and Nike. At some point the league stepped in and determined that it was unfair practice of some form. I believe , because small market teams did not get the same opportunity and it became part of revenue sharing.

They give the players the option to wear whatever cleats they want and whatever shoulder pads or helmet they feel the most comfortable with. I'm fine with them standardizing on one uniform maker, if that's what they choose but the coaches should not be required to be "in uniform" . The staff, the players, the other sideline assistance..fine, but there is something about the head coach that should be allowed to seperate himself without worrying that Hugo Boss might get a five second tv spot.

This isn't the Oscar's.. it's not like at the press conference the media is going to ask..so.. what are you wearing today?.. Is that Armani?..

The only way I could see that working, and this would be a huge longshot of a chance, is if the coach wore a Reebok hat or maybe a tie or lapel pin with the reebok name and logo.

Remember back to the basketball dream teams and when they would get pictures of the team...many of the players would cover up the uniform logo because they had contracts with other companies.

Silly but I guess that is the way it goes with these companies and contracts.

Now I don't know about the shoulder pads, maybe because they can not be seen they are allowed to wear different ones.

As far as the shoes maybe that was an exception to the rule in this case since many athletes have shoe deals.

However you will notice that the players all have the same uniforms and not just meaning colors and team logos, but all made by the same company.

BP is too superstitious to change his dress habits.

I think its oldschool and if the Coaches dont want to do it then they shouldn't have to.

Making coaches wear a suite and tie would be stupid.

Imagine being at Texas stadium with its 110 degrees on the field wearing a suite.

I dont even think Parcells could survive if he had to do that.

You mean like Landry did? I agree no coach should be made to wear the suite but if they want to they should be allowed to do so instead of being bill boards for NFL merchandise. I also agree Bill would not do well in a suite in the Texas heat. :laugh2:

wearing a suit has nothing to do with class...Suits do look nice and some coaches should wear them...fact is he doesn't like it, thats his opinion and yours would be that you do like it, but that doesn't mean he's classless, get over yourselves.

Man he got ticked at his press conference yesterday when someone asked him about how lucky they have been to avoid injuries thus far.

I don't blame him, I don't like to talk about it either. Nor do I like talking about the S word (Super Bowl)
