What is with coaches wearing ties and suits?

Landry is from a bygone era. He wore a fedora, do you think the coaches should wear fedoras too?

In the old days, coaches weren't wired up, didn't wear head sets they certainly clash with suits etc.

Some of them also wore bad toupes. Like freeze dried roadkill on top of their heads. Lou Holtz comes to mind. I suspect Spurrier has one but it is good because the hair flows natural. But he is always fussing with his hair so I suspect it is not au natural.

While were on the subject of coaches/managers and outfits, I could never figure out why baseball managers have to "suit up" in the complete players uniform, its not like they are going to sub in for one of there players, and it would be ridiculous for the other sports leagues (NFL, NBA, NHL) to have their coaches get dressed like their players.

because some baseball rule will not allow you on the field unless you are in a uniform.

I still say Parcells should wear a suit on Thanksgiving, with the hat. It would be the ultimate throwback!

Plus! Like I said yesterday, it hides his man boobs! That is ALWAYS an advantage. :lmao2:

I saw the 49ers head coach do it on Sunday and then Del Rio last night. It looks dumb. Sure they used to do that stuff, but that is ancient history.

I actually like the suits and ties. The casual look and the hideous rag mumbles in New England wears just annoy me.

Explain what is "Dumb" about it.

This ought to be good.

Parcells looks about 500% better in a suit.

Actually most men look better in a suit quite frankly.

I think dressing for success is a smart thing to do.

I dont think its mind boggling. I think coaches should wear what they want.
I'm shocked that people are uninformed on why the 2 coaches wore the suits. Geez, it was only mentioned in every news circle around. Mike Nolan requested permission last year and it was denied by the NFL. It's an old story. The NFL finally granted them permission. I felt it was a good move and they looked good. Why would it bother anyone?

"Bygone era?" You mean where men respected the game? Maybe it shouldn't be "bygone." Just a thought.

You have to understand Rack this guy was a big time Bledsoe apologist too...

I hope you can see the "thread".

I am all for Parcells wearing a suit if it means I dont have to see his belt buckle suck in the fat he is trying to hide.

I think it looks classy. It does kind of look a bit out of place, considering the environment they're in. In this era, it seems more uncomfortable, especially if it's raining.

Either way looks fine but I guess it'd look a bit odd to see Tommy Lasorda wearing a suit and tie in the dugout.

I think it was a good move by the league allowing it. Wear what you want.

I didnt say bygone for the record, was some other guy.

I know.

Unfortunately the league only allowed it because the suit was made by Reebok.

Wait a sec, didn't you just start this thread because you don't like the suits?

Edit: My apologies, that's the other Canadian.

I think the suits are very classy, and I hope they allow Nolan to wear one every week... not just two weeks a year.

I know I'll probably get ridiculed for this, but I would probably buy a Reebok suit if they sold them commercially, and were comfortable and looked good. Especially if they made one with a Cowboys-specific angle. Not sure how that would work, but it'd be cool.

He must be a cousin, as there are only 12 of us in Canada. In Canada we just got our second area code and staplers have also been legalized now.
