Super Bowl or bust. He had the chance to get this team the #1 seed, but blew it with two losses after holding double digit leads. So, he has forfeited the right to use the excuse of having to win three straight road games to get to the Super Bowl. His coaching performances during the season have made it necessary to get there the hard way, so be it for him.

I don't know how you can fire McCarthy or Moore. McCarthy won 12 games this year with a team Jerry began to dismantle. He lost Tyron just before the season started and had to move Tyler Smith out to LT at the last minute. Then he lost Dak for 5 1/2 games. Now he is missing two starting CBs, his starting RT, his starting MLB, and for the past month has dealt with a flu bug requiring players to miss practices and games. But the one thing that has impressed me is this Cowboys team has not folded to more physical teams like they have in the past.

Is he perfect? No. Clock management is still an issue. But how can anyone argue with the results over the last 2 years.

What do most of us say about the players you have?

"You always want to get better".

So, McCarthy has to do better than any coach after Switzer. That means winning 2 playoff games, at the least.

Of course, that's complicated by other factors, such as injuries. Cowboys have lost 2 starting corners, RT, possibly MLB (LVE), NT and C for the first playoff game. Sure, good coaches overcome injuries, but we're talking about trying to win the SB, maybe against a team with zero significant injuries, hard to blame a coach for not going all the way with a team missing big chunks of the players that you were going to rely on. And also remember MM's lone SB winning year, his team also had lots of injuries, so he's got at least some history of overcoming injuries.

But we're talking about the Dallas Cowboys winning a SB, much as we might feel sorry that MM had to deal with Jerry and key injuries, if he can't "get 'er done", time to move on. Such is life in the NFL....

If we lose a playoff game, strictly because of him screwing something up. Goodbye.

You don’t fire a coach who wins 24-25 games over the previous two years. This is madness.
Yes, but what are you do if it’s strictly because of his screwing something up.

Before the season, the general consensus was a NFC Championship game appearance or Big Mike is out.

Does winning a bunch of games cancel that out? (It shouldn't, especially considering some of our ugly wins when we played like crap)

If you fire Big Mike, who do you replace him with? (Peyton might already be hired, he might not get offered the Cowboys HC job, he might turn it down)

It depends if we beat the bucks handley it and then win the 2nd game I'd say OK hes back. Lose 2nd game...bye
However if we slide by the bucks or lose to them, then go on and lose the 2nd I'd say hes gone on Monday

I was thinking about this the other day and if Jerry wants Payton here, hes gotta move on from Mike like the day after the loss.
If Jerry Moves that quickly I think Payton will be one of the first interviews.
Not necessarily my first choice, and I'm sure Jerry cares.

You do remember that Campo had a cap strapped team and no QB in the 3 years he was the HC? His first year was Aikmans last year and his health concerns made him a shell of his former self.
Quincy, Chad Hutchinson, Ryan Leaf, Clint Stoermer were what Campo had to work with in 2001 and 2002

Mike has done a good job in my opinion, coach stays.

Marty Schottenheimer was fired after a 14-win season. It didn’t work out.
The silly things that other teams do is not a precedence for the Cowboys to repeat those mistakes.

MM has already earned returning as our HC in 2023, IMO but I know many of you want that tied to performance in the playoffs.

I don't know. MM had 13 years in Green Bay and had a team with either Brett Farve or Aaron Rodgers, plus other Pro Bowl/All-Pro players, yet only won one Super Bowl. His regular season record overall was good in GB (125-77-2), his playoff record was 10-8 at GB, which is also good. But MM seems to be a coach that can get you to the job site but not always finish. There are many worse coaches out there though. I think he has done a good job overall. Can he get us a SB win? I don't know.

I do know that I don't want to relive the Dave Campo days. With the extra game now we could be 5-12 instead of 5-11 with someone like him.

- Ditto with Payton .. only one SB. Despite having an Hall of Fame QB in Brees.

- And Payton was made mortal when he couldn't develop QBs after Brees retired ...and how forgettable is that WTH decision to endorse gimmick QB Tayson Hill into
a long term mult-million contract before he decided to scram it into sudden "retirement "

- He totally bailed out, walked out on Saints..on his players, after leaving them with a QB headache,..that still doesn't bode well with me.

i also believe this is the case.

And a recent Stephen where he confirm " we'd have to get further into the playoffs "

Despite 12 wins - It simply cannot be One and Done yet again -

Frankly Payton had such full leeway with Saints moves and operations whereas McCarthy has been limited (for better or worse) with the Jones.

Yet what do you per coaching with staying with status quo thats' not getting you better into the playoffs ?

That spells that you'll win reg season games, and put up pretty points- but when it comes down to
playoff time when your entire season is on the line ... you cannot hack it .. that's the time you crumble apart and go home .. .you have to look at what area with both coaches and
players that you have to get better and place you over the top .

Dungy's Bucs were always in the playoff hunt, .. but Management decided that they needed a reputable HC that could give them a upper edge (ala Jon Gruden) than what they
were getting with the more conservative Dungy. The results was a SB.
