- The Jones will not allow McCarthy to run his GB offense here because they think the world of Kellen Moore. That's a problem.
i do wonder if Sean and Jerry get together, will Jerry force Payton to keep Kellen and let Kellen continue to run the offense.
Wouldn't make sense to have to trade high for a HC to limited him so much in an area where he's suppose to excel so.

- Frankly i am not for giving up a first round pick for Payton.
Even a 2nd rd pick makes me cringe. We've proven we can have a top ranked offense - even with Kellen.
Plus if Mac wasn't handicuffed by Jones/Kellen, he probably could offer much more in ultilizing our RBs far more than Kellen in the offense.

- i actually like the misdirection movement in McCarthy's offense than what i'm seeing in Kellen's offense.

- and just like McCarthy, Payton has be watched and limited per personnel moves - with what he did with Tayson Hill committment that ruined that team before he bailed out
and Payton himself (like MCCarthy) has also struggled with finding quality DCs - before Dennis Allen finally took well of that.

The silly things that other teams do is not a precedence for the Cowboys to repeat those mistakes.

MM has already earned returning as our HC in 2023, IMO but I know many of you want that tied to performance in the playoffs.

I actually agree. MM deserves to come back next year. The guy saved the sinking ship week one and ended up with at least 12 wins. Most years that’s good for a home playoff game.

I don't know. MM had 13 years in Green Bay and had a team with either Brett Farve or Aaron Rodgers, plus other Pro Bowl/All-Pro players, yet only won one Super Bowl. His regular season record overall was good in GB (125-77-2), his playoff record was 10-8 at GB, which is also good. But MM seems to be a coach that can get you to the job site but not always finish. There are many worse coaches out there though. I think he has done a good job overall. Can he get us a SB win? I don't know.

I do know that I don't want to relive the Dave Campo days. With the extra game now we could be 5-12 instead of 5-11 with someone like him.

Sean Payton had a HOF QB his entire time at New Orleans and only won one Super Bowl.

You don’t fire a coach who wins 24-25 games over the previous two years. This is madness.
right, not now but maybe in 23 if it doesn't pay off you can have situation like what was it the chargers that fired Marty Schottenheimer after a 14-win season because he kept losing in the playoff? 5-13 playoff record.

Im giving MM one more year regardless but if we don win at least 1 playoff game this year, Jerry might not like it.. fans would be upset..

2 12-win seasons should be enough. However if we blow another playoff game in the first round it might get ugly. But honestly it comes down to matchups

Guy has produced back to back 12 win seasons and playoff appearances think that warrants another season

He already got us into playoffs so he is a keeper. Not going to find any coach that can do more in next 2-4 years.

if you want to just start winning Superbowls today then get Brady in here. I like Dak but Brady could take this team to Super Bowl right now.

Dak might but Brady would kill every team with this talent.

It's always said through the media that we are at a coaching deficit when it comes to MM. If the next coach doesn't elevate and make it more of a strength than MM, id rather just stay the course.

He's done a very good job this year.

I thought this team was toast after week 1. But he's held it together nicely all things considered

he'd have to take a dump on the 50 yard like for him not to return next year

if he goes out in the first round then it would be clear hes in a Wade Phillips situation win in the 2024 playoffs or be salmon'd

The Campo comparison is apples to oranges insanity.

Campo inherited an old decimated cap strapped team while McCarthy not only has a uber talented team in its prime but the #1 offense and #1 defense in takeaways (and league leader in sacks).

MM was practically handed a championship caliber team, could not be more different than Campo's situation.

Campo did get stuck with a declining team, but there were still some talented pieces there. He just didn't have a QB. Parcells came in and showed what a good head coach can do. He then found Romo and Ware and set the franchise up to be competitive under Wade. Then Garrett inherited a talented team from Wade.

If we win a wildcard game I want MM back…we need to build a program that is in contention for the conference and division every year. A team that you can count on for 10-12 wins year in year out. A team that gets multiple playoff cracks at the apple and eventually breaks through and wins the whole thing.

consistency is key, Ravens always were a playoff team and finally busted through, Steelers, 49ers consistent playoff team w multiple sb appearances, Seahawks during the LOB era. Payton’s saints. Etc, the packers. You need to be in the post season every year to have a chance.

I think we are building that here. While payton is the better coach- he’s not so much better where you give multiple draft picks and an insane check to. MM deserves another year baring a wildcard embarrassment and I’m not a huge MM supporter
Seems reasonable

No other NFL team saw Dave Campo as a reputable HC hire .... only in Jerry's eyes ...
