Win the first game and at least don't be embarrassing in the 2nd game.

Sorry, but we’ve waited long enough….I don’t care how many regular season wins Corky racks up…he should be gone if we aren’t playing in the NFC Championship Game…period. We seem to talk tough prior to every regular season, only to lower the bar a few months later….please remember that Corky should have been fired 5 minutes after the SF embarrassment….but unfortunately survived.

Wrong... absolutely wrong. No explanation nor evidence but wrong wrong wrong...I just can feel it

No offense, but some of you guys approach things far too emotionally. MM is the best coach we have had since JJ. Keep in mind that EVERY coach that coaches here also has to co-exist with GM-OWNER-HEAD COACH-HEAD PUBLICIST-HEAD PHYSICIAN AND TRAINER Jerry Jones.

MM has navigated that very well. I wasn’t sold on MM after year one, but the last two years he has done a remarkable job dealing with this **** show. He has won with replacements/next man up. The arrow is pointing up.

I am sure that if Jerry wasn’t in his ear about Kellen Moore etc. that we would win a few more. As Cinderella sang “” You don’t know what you’ve got til it’s gone”.

I think at this point, that MM is about the best coach that we could hope for. The Hoodie is not likely to coach for JJ.

He’s not going anywhere. Besides, who wants KM or DQ as HC? Not me.
No way SP comes here to work under the heavy thumb of JJ.

Here is the thing. Last year in the playoffs we got slapped around by SF 49ers and looked intimidated and unprepared. I will say this much if the
Cowboys lose the Wildcard game under any fashion Jerry will sniff around Payton's backdoor and talk to the Saints about compenstion. If JJ feels
the compenstion is to his liking he will go after Payton after two playoff loses regardless of regular season records. I believe strongly if they win
the wildcard game this year JJ will keep MM for next season. If we lose JJ will only keep MM if he doesn't like the compensation that NO is asking
which what I have read is a first round draft pick. I feel 99% sure about what I write above the only question I have to myself would JJ give up a
first rounder for Payton that one I can't answer.

It was almost a done deal a few years ago before he signed an extension with NO. He's made it very public this year that the Cowboys are a team that he is highly interested in. Jerry is his drinking buddy they have a great relationship.

Sean Payton had a HOF QB his entire time at New Orleans and only won one Super Bowl.

He help engineer Drew Brees HOF career. Let's not leave out the fact that Brees was let go in SD and was considered damaged goods. Only 2 teams took interest in him MIA and NO. He failed the physical in MIA.

He's done an outstanding job this year. I can only judge him on January 4th right now. If his team completely gets worked in the wild card round that changes things.

I would say at a minimum, Dallas needs to beat any playoff team that has a worse record than they do. That gets them through the WC game at least.

From there, the conversation becomes about the quality of the product on the field. Was the team prepared? Were they competitive? Should they lose in the divisional round, I could see scenarios where he is fired or retained depending on several factors.

IMO— based on talent and performance ceiling, this team should be in the NFCCG. If MM gets them there, then no question he should be retained. Back to back 12-5 seasons is impressive— especially when considering losing the starting LT, QB, and 2nd and 3rd CB to injuries for significant periods of time.

Thank you for laying that all out and saving me the time. If we play well & get beat, I can't put that on him. If we look scared, unprepared, undisciplined or he continues to make bad in game decisions, that's a different story.

Best scenario (other than becoming a dynasty) is stick with him til you are closer to a time you can move on from Dak and let the new coach reset the organization.

That was a failure of SD to understand what they had in Brees. He had turned the corner & was playing well. They had already drafted Rivers and were just looking move on. Of course Rivers turned out to be really good but the organization spent resources to acquire both QB's and got no compensation when a HOF QB walked. Quite the blunder.

He wasn't a HOF QB at that time. He was just as you said playing well but not well enough for SD to keep him and his shoulder was injured. Again, no one thought of him as a HOF QB at that time only 2 teams were interested and they were both rebuilding franchises. Let's give Payton a little credit for helping Brees become the HOF QB he became with the Saints.

Before the season I said NFC championship appearance.

After leading the team to back to back 12 win seasons, and losing his starting QB for a chunk of that time, I think the bar will be lowered.

I imagine Jerry retains him regardless but would think he needs at least one play-off win.

Payton is a quality coach, but is overrated by too many fans. Like McCarthy, he only went to one Super Bowl with a premium QB on the roster. I'm not sure why anyone would think McCarthy or Payton shouldn't be rated as even with each other. Why trade out McCarthy for Payton. They have similar records, and success.

The team would have to be embarrassed bad in the playoffs, like Jimmy Johnsons Miami beatdown vs the Jags to seriously move on from him.
