What makes the most sense is he did say it.

Sorry, but we’ve waited long enough….I don’t care how many regular season wins Corky racks up…he should be gone if we aren’t playing in the NFC Championship Game…period. We seem to talk tough prior to every regular season, only to lower the bar a few months later….please remember that Corky should have been fired 5 minutes after the SF embarrassment….but unfortunately survived.

So then what? We bin a coach every year or two until we get there? That's how we become the Commanders. I want a Championship as much if not more than anyone else here as I've never seen us there. However, I think Mike's doing a very good job. I don't see an obvious improvement between him and Payton, and their resumes are almost identical as HCs. Especially in terms of Lombardi's, and Mike had a fraud and a jerk as QBs when he was HC. Payton had Brees. I'll keep Mike over Payton.

Exactly, he's done more with less over the past couple of seasons, especially compared to Garrett. By comparison, they both had Cooper Rush on the roster as a backup QB. Mike has made Rush look like a very good backup. Garrett made him look like he didn't belong in the NFL. That shows a difference in coaching. Mike is a much better coach than people realise on here. He's not perfect. He's not Jimmy or Landry by any means. However, for today's NFL, he's been very good, and the players have bought in, which is one of the hardest parts of being an NFL coach.

Another terrible take by you. You are racking them up. You think that it is unfortunate to have a coaching staff that is going to lead this team to a 13 and 4 record and went 4 and 1 with Cooper Rush and overcame injury after injury al season long.

Barring another colossal F up in the 2nd round, If we beat the Bucs McCarthy won’t be fired. Technically its progress from where he took over. Unless Jerry really would turn the reigns over to Payton (I don’t believe Payton comes here to clear player personnel decisions with Stephen), I’m not sure who you fire McCarthy for. Will Jerry also fire Kellen Moore too? I kinda doubt it, so does just shuffling the deck and making Quinn the head coach really change anything?
The only other guy besides Payton I might want if McCarthy is fired is Bruce Arians if he still wants to/can coach.

For me, Mike should return and has already exceeded his floor for returning, considering how this season played out. Yes, I know it's the regular season. However, I can see the buy in from the team. I see that they respect him. He's led us to wins in games that we would've lost with most coaches. I think he should stay at least one more year.

I think he should be forced to play to the regular season record. If they were the third best record, then he should end up being the third best team by playoff results.

Play to your record in the entire NFL despite the quality of opponents.

Being close to the Jones family may very well be the number one reason he wouldnt come here. Reason 1B would be the first round pick the Saints want.

Why fire McCarthy who has the exact same resume' as Payton AND give the Saints draft picks on top of it?

McCarthy had Rodgers, Payton had Brees, and yet I remember the Saints had a run of multiple 7-9 seasons and, like McCarthy, just one Super Bowl.
