What it takes for Cowboys to be a Super Bowl Contender?

Need to get way better rushing the passer for sure. I think there is enough talent, but their technique seems average. Can only hope DLaw keeps bringing it and Gregory can give everyone a boost when he returns.

I like Collins, but I think Irving deserves more snaps as well. Ryan Davis has been the invisible man and he needs to step up or be let go. Mayowa has like 2 sacks, but he needs to get more pressures too.

I wouldn't expect Gregory to play ever again. Not joking. He'll fail again and be out for an entire 16 games. That'll be all she wrote on him.

Cowboys’ Offense

Yards/game ranked 4th

Pts/Game ranked 7th

Cowboys’ Defense

Least yards/game ranked 12th lowest

Least Points/game ranked 7th lowest

What this says is that the Cowboys Offense is efficient and is good enough to be a Super bowl type offense. The Cowboys Defense is alright but needs to be a top 5 defense to be a Super Bowl type defense. What do we need to do to be 5th ranked defense by week 16 of the season?:)
They have a lot of young guys getting significant snaps. Those guys should get better with each game played.

M. Collins
Brown
Irving
Wilson
Mayo
Jones

On the the downside, injuries could derail progress. Claiborne and Church are big question marks now.

IIRC, he is working out at the team facilities now and attending meetings. He is getting drug tested every week. If he had failed another test it would likely be known by the media.

We are so close to being Super Bowl bound. If we had Lorenzo Alexander, Zach Brown, and Marcus Peters we would destroy everyone and win the Lombardi trophy multiple times.

I understand how you feel, but unlike last years debacle I believe this years team is having a positive impact on Gregory. I think it will motivate him to be better on and off the field, because he wants to be a part of this team and he's getting himself ready for that.

The reality is that in today's watered-down league, we are already there. Particularly in the NFC.

Falcons? Suspect defense. Seahawks? Suspect offense. Minnesota? Suspect offense. Green Bay? We've already beaten them. Philly? We've already beaten them.

There's no complete team in this conference.

For my money, Seattle is the team in the best position. I think Wilson will get healthy, Rawls will get healthy and they'll figure out something offensively to complement that defense. I also think Green Bay is finding their offense to where they will be a much better team come December than they were in October.

The Cowboys are already SB contenders they have the best record in the NFC and are tied with the Pats with the best record in the entire league. They've beaten 3 teams with winning records. The problem is the same as it's always been the defense is an issue primarily the pass rush and it will likely catch up with us. Philly may have a better chance of going farther than us because they have a solid defense and one of the best pass rushes in the league. They're currently tied for 3rd in sacks. If you go back to the 2007 season we had a great offense and beat the Giants twice during the regular season but they went a lot further than us in the playoffs winning the SB because they had a great pass rush that came on late that season.

You have to be able to pressure the QB especially in the 4th quarter when games are on the line. We have an excellent offensive team that ranks #4 in total offense and #1 in rushing and our rookie RB is an MVP candidate but we're lacking defensively and it will likely catch up with us. You need a defense that can help bail you out by making critical stops and getting to the QB and that's where our best teams since the 90s have come up short. We've had the offenses to get it done but not the defenses.

How? The majority of them have been here his whole career and it's made no difference. I get the sense he's got some R. McClain in him. Just doesn't really care about football. Dallas should stop wasting a roster spot on him and just cut him and move on. Draft a DE in the first or something.

You may be correct, but I still have dreams of Gregory and Collins racing to the QB, just like the highlight reels showed at Nebraska. I don't know if it was their internal competition or if they just fed off of each other, but it was a thing of beauty to watch.

Winning makes all the difference and if he didn't care about football he wouldn't be currently working with the team. Not to mention, Hayden and Hardy are gone and not exactly the kinda veterans you want to look up to on the DL.

To both of these, I just know a Roy Tarpley when I see him (Mavs first rounder that was a beast for a year or so in the 80s before drugs took him, too), and from everything I've heard, reports of Gregory doing anything at a facility other than his rehab facility are incorrect. Players are almost always prohibited from practicing with their teams or being around them until their suspensions are over. If this dude is addicted to weed (which everyone says isn't addictive), he's got bigger problems to deal with.

I have much more faith in Dak and the offense continuing to improve. I think that the more he plays, the better he will become at 'pulling the trigger' and throwing before he has to 'see it'. And I expect his most recent game to be a real learning experience for him.

Defensively, I think that they're playing well past their pedigree and talent. And that's a big credit to Rod Marinelli, a coach that I have been very critical of. He has his 'orphans' playing very well. But now I worry about the effect the Claiborne and Church injuries might have.

The pass rush - and lack thereof - continues to concern me and I don't see a fix coming, especially with the trade deadline passed.

Well said, Stash.

Absolutely. Prescott is the road ahead. The defense should be given the boost in the off season. They need a tough defensive player, like a Haley, togive the defense a character and its a certainty they need to freshen up the DB corp. To me, Mo is not reliable. Carr is playing well, presently, but is a FA. This team will win a SB with just a little Defensive improvement.

DLaw to peak
O line to stay healthy
Sean Lee to stay healthy
These should help.

Wouldn't hurt if Julio Jones injures a hammy but I'm not wishing that on him.

We need some lucky bounces, good health and some really foul playoff weather.
