What it would cost to bring back Dowdle

I get it that contracts just keep going up & it's hard (especially for those of us who have been around awhile) not to cling to old ideas of what contracts should be. I like Rico well enough & think he has earned a decent contract. What is the right $ range, honestly not sure.

But let me just pose a few questions \ thoughts.

• Can we all agree RB's have been underpaid for some time now?
• Last year Rico had 636 snaps. The offense had 637 snaps. Rico played special teams. So, he's taking the pounding.
• He produced
• Even last year, he made about half a Million less than average starting RB. He made 1.255M. I mean they paid Zeke $2M last year.
• If you were him & were going to be counted on to be a starter, would you sign a contract to take all that beating to be one of the lowest paid veteran starters on the team?
• If I were him, I think $4M would be my floor. Would feel pretty good at $5M especially if guarantees are good.

Not sure but there's plenty of Rico Dowdle's in the draft. He had a good year and id like to keep him but if he gets a decent offer from someone else its ok to let him walk.

I’m just not interested in overpaying for Dowdle if they do fine but we got enough overpaid dudes on the roster. If he’s reasonable then yes.

Training camp is for learning protections etc. it can’t be that difficult for a rookie. RB is one of the less complex positions to learn as a rookie imo

Draft 2 backs. Spend money on linebacker, corner, receiver, dline, and oline.

Sounds nice but regardless of its Dowdle or someone else I think they’re paying 5m to a vet.
I can’t imagine them having any desire to go into the season with a bunch of rookie RBs in pass protection with their 60m QB coming back from his hamstring tearing off his hip!
Especially when none of these backs available score very highly in that aspect!

I thought the same thing, but with the cap at $280 million it's fair. He's proven he can be a starter.

Nothing special, but he got the job done.
