What it would cost to bring back Dowdle

Laughing my *** off at all the nitwits here that complain about our lack of running game. Then Rico balls out with our terrible OL and gets the not worth keeping treatment.
It's because you can get your starting running back in round 2 or 3 and your 2nd back in round 5.

Rico was a product of Smith, Beebe, and Hoffman.
Which makes his value go up. Beebe and Hoffman were far from top performers at their positions. Beebe was the 15th rated Center and Hoffman rated 26th at G. Respectable but Rico earned his pay day. Let's not take away from his year by implying he ran behind a bunch of pro bowlers.

Joe Randle had more juice. Dowdle is a JAG. The Cowboys know this.
Dowdle has some utility as a #2. Solid reciever and blocker. He wouldn't be a bad signing for a team with a real bellcow as a 6-8 carry a game guy. But as a lead dog and any legit team he is seriously going to be lacking

Dowdle is a good pickup for a minimum salary. When you start talking about giving him 6 million a season then there is a problem. Ask the Giants and Cincinnati about giving JAGs some money. Both of their money backs got outplayed by rookies.

Snap out of it, lads!
Why are we discussing keeping a mediocre RB?
I will tell you why! We are Cowboys fans grasping at straws.
With the Eagles, Commanders, Packers, Vikings, Lions, Rams etc. around, 2025 is a wash.
Concentrate on the draft and what we have. Add an edge from FA and look to 2026.
You know in your hard hearts I am correct!

Rico is not worth $6 million to me. Henry signed for $8 million last year, and Pollard for $7.2. I'd give Rico $4 million tops. They need a serious upgrade at RB. This draft is deep, get 2 and don't look back.
4 million a year or hit the bricks. Good call

I’ll bet Dallas offers 6 per but backloaded and not guaranteed. 3 years, 20 million, 5 million bonus and league minimum salary first year. Salary jumps up to 6 or 7 million in year 2.

Rico was a product of Smith, Beebe, and Hoffman.
And those 3 will all be back.

Don't care why a back is good, whether it's due to a great line or a great back. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, as they say.

Personally, I think he's better than some think, with the proper scheme I think he'll be more than adequate...

I looked up Pollard because someone brought him up as a measuring stick . Exact same yards as Dowdle last year making more $ when he signed as a FA with Tenn .

And Dowdle is a better blocker at picking up the blitz keeping Dak standing and Dowdle just as good as a receiver out of the backfield . Yes he’s worth 6 on the open market and pair him with a 3rd rounder to have an effective running game .

What’s the point of drafting a running back if he taps his helmet for a break and in comes a Malik Davis UDFA type . Dowdle proved he can be a reliable NFL weapon .

I would throw up in my mouth if they re-signed Dowdle.

I wouldn't be happy if he was all we had. I'd want at a minimum a mid round rb to pair with him.

I don't expect them to address the position in free agency, and if we don't go rb early I'd feel alot better retaining him.

I think there's something to be said for an undrafted guy who comes in and fights for four years before he gets his chance. It's not flashy but he continued to grind his way towards playing time.

More importantly, when given the chance he performed pretty well on a less than impressive offensive unit.

My biggest question with Rico is can he remain healthy.

Should be 3-4 million but since he's a Jerry UDFA, we're looking at closer to 6 or 7 mil.
