Is it just me or does he note sell his moves (cuts) very well? I think that is Witten's best trait, but when I watch Austin run his routes, I would sware it was a red shirt high school receiver doing it.

What makes it worse is Garrett loves the double moves so he has to do it twice and fails both times. :bang2:

I think he should work with Witten to improve this. Sherman doesn't seem to be helping him with it.

He gets open consistently, so whatever he's doing is working.

No, I'm referring to games.

If you're not at the game, you can't tell if he's open on passes not thrown his way. If you are, you can. And he gets open in games.

If you watch him, he'll always have a good step or two on his corner, whereas when you have a corner blanketing Crayton or Hurd (or even Roy), they'll be right on their hip.

I've seen him open downfield several times this pre-season and the QB has just sailed it over his head.

I also think he is a very solid route runner. Especially in the middle of the field.

Austin showed why he isn't the #2 receiver last night.

I'm starting to think Austin is a slightly better version of Randal Williams.

exactly.

whoever thinks he runs good routes has no clue what good routes are.

they must not have heard him get called out last night by Babe for running with poor weight distribution making his cuts awkward.

passes routinely being sailed over one's head means that either the qb is awful or the player can't run routes. as fast as austin is straight ahead he is horridly slow in and out of breaks.

he does run nice crossing routes because that requires no real break just speed.

wr speed is about balance and agility, austin has track speed.

austin should have a package of plays but he isn't a starter in the nfl by far.

That hitch comeback route he ran last night was awful. If he ran that route properly with his speed he should've had nice seperation

And the first salvo has been launched in Miles Austin becoming the new whipping boy..

With Stanback and Proctor on the verge of being gone.... someone was going to have to take their place....

Tony Romo unfortunately threw behind Miles Austin on the 20 yard crossing route last night.

Austin had to stop and fall backward to make the catch.

If the pass was on time and in front of Austin?

Play time!

That would have been fun to watch.

Miles Austin is still very inexperienced.

He may never be a great route runner, but he is still learning and trying to get better.

Alvin Harper wasn't exactly precise with his routes, either, and it didn't stop him from being a good player.

It is hard to to run a go or fade route wrong, especially when the QB says, "If in doubt I will throw it high."

Austin was wide open on that play, from begining to end. Romo didn't find him until very late, and then threw a very bad pass.
