What new technology seems like a step backward?

I know a guy who has a Mercedes AMG, which is apparently their version of a racing car. It's one of the hottest cars I've ever seen, and I don't really care for Mercedes...Anyway, he went for a ride with a friend of his in a Tesla, and he was flabbergasted at the acceleration. And that's from a guy with a $112,000 (approx) car.
AMG very nice but not something u want out of warranty. Tesla Plaid will still make it look small at the drag strip.

My wife has a Nissan Leaf. The instant acceleration that little car has is impressive. I don't know what the 0-60 times are, but there are few cars that can stay with the Leaf from a standstill up to 50-60 MPH, and the ones that can are considerably more expensive. Since we only use the car around town and her job we rarely have the need to go faster than that.

Nothing can beat the instant torque an electric vehicle provides.
I've never driven an electric vehicle, but I recently bought a used Sur-Ron Light Bee X off a friend of mine and I'm in love. I've never owned a dirt bike or ATV due to the weight, maintenance, and lack of places to ride them, but this thing is completely different. It weighs 120 pounds, will do 45mph, and can go up to 60 miles depending on the mode. I can throw it in the back of my truck or it mounts easily on a plain hitch receiver carrier. It's a blast for riding in backcountry and can easily be lifted over deadfall, creeks, or anything sketchy. I poke around my neighborhood on it and all of my neighbors want one now. We've been looking at buying a Mercedes Sprinter camper van and this thing is immediately going on the back of it.

I'll open it up by saying I hate the new bathroom faucets that have the "T" handle. The center is the hands free faucet, and the "handles" are hand dryers.

While you're trying to get the sensor to recognize your hands and start the water flowing, the dryers sense them first, and you can't get the water to start until after the dryers stop.

What was wrong with the dryers on the wall?
I've never seen a "T" bathroom faucet with hand dryer handles. I guess we can blame Dyson for it...

$300 tablet that writes like pen and paper:

Why not just use a pen and paper? I understand it has options for storing and organizing your notes, but this is ridiculous.
I do not own one, but I can see the appeal with the added ability to read ebooks and convert handwriting to text. I have a Tab S7+ that you can convert handwritten to text. I love that feature because I cannot type nearly as fast as my brain thinks, but I can handwrite at the same speed. If I wrote a lot that needed to be converted to text and also read a lot, this device would be very tempting as I would imagine reading on it would be easier on the eyes vs my tablet.

I bought my wife a go-kart for Christmas this year (yes, she has always wanted one lol) and I ended up buying an electric Ninebot go-kart. I looked and looked for a gas motor one, but pretty much all of them looked cheesy, heavy, and/or had spotty reviews unless you get into the couple thousand dollar race karts. She doesn't need a race kart. lol Not to mention pretty much all of them needed lots of assembly, which is fine as I am capable, but it's hard to put together a gift in the garage without raising major suspicion. So, I pulled the trigger on this electric go-kart...and...it's great. It had very little assembly, is quite light, is fun to drive, and it gets up and goes. I do wish it had a weeeee bit more top speed (it hits about 25mph), but I can see why it doesn't. They're not trying to sell a racing kart, it's just me being a speed nut. lol

The point I'm making is that it's very capable, light enough to throw in the back of the truck, and I love that it's quiet. We cruised it around the neighborhood one evening and didn't have to bug the neighbors with a loud lawnmower engine buzzing up and down the street. It's not eating up gas or dripping oil in my garage. Electric definitely has a lot of pluses. Only negative is that when it's out of juice, you can't just pour fuel in her and go again. You just have to wait to charge it. Just takes a little patience. Perfect time for a coldie. I could see all of this in your motorcycle as well.

That thing sounds like a winner.

I find any smartphone, iPhone or Android, to be totally inferior to a full-sized computer for basic tasks like surfing the web, and especially for writing things. The smartphones are better for other things, like restaurant or hotel finding apps, since you probably won't be lugging your laptop around. However, I could not imagine writing a novel on a smartphone.

Hands free driving in any car.
People should not be tempted to be more distracted/allowed to do anything but drive as the driver.

My wifes Expedition has some gaudy stupid big screen. Next to no buttons. For me, I hate it. PITA to get to certain apps.
Takes like 3 steps to get to the front camera. Somehow an Alexa app takes precedence over the front camera.

All true, but it still seems like a step forward in technology. Though there are probably some new models that seem like a regression.

Also, operating systems on computers sometimes seem worse than the one before.

I'm not sure what kind of hands free you guys have in your vehicles, but the one in my Ford F-150 is great. I can answer/end calls with a button on my steering wheel. I can also hit the mic button, the AI pops up, and I can command whatever. I tell it to call somebody, it'll read my incoming texts, I can send/reply to a text via voice, or even tell it to play music. It does great overall. To be fair though, I do connect my phone and do all of this through the Android Auto.

I use the Bluetooth in my car and in my work truck. I downloaded an app called Rocket Player, so I could listen to music even when I can't get a signal, such as in Upstate New York. So far, I've downloaded about 315 CDs into my phone, so I only listen to music I want to hear.

The only real pain is that both vehicles have very similar controls on the steering wheel, but they're on opposite sides, so sometimes I have aggravating moments.

Not sure this is on topic but...

Calling services.
Definitely a step backwards.
Example:
If I order a pizza, the call I make goes to Phoenix, Arizona.
Thing is, I live in Maryland. The pizza place is in Maryland.
Why does the call need to go to Arizona? Ridiculous.

Definitely on topic! Technology sends the call to a "new and improved" destination, instead of to the people who are actually making the pizza.

I like it too. Have an F-150 and works like a charm.

Here's something funny. You can ASK SIRI too while driving. Haven't really used it much at all.

But today, was listening to some radio DJs do a trivia contest and answer involved Tom Cruise and Top Gun 2.

It got me to thinking why didn't they bring back Kelly McGillis, the actress in the first one, for the sequel.

For the hell of it, I asked Siri: "Why was Kelly McGillis not in Top Gun 2?"

No joke, the answer that came back was "Because she is too old, fat, and doesn't look age appropriate." :omg:
