What's toxic is paying elite money to guys who aren't elite. That gets you good enough to win a few games but not good enough to compete for a SB. While it's still possible to build good teams with them it is much harder. If SF has to pay Brock an average of 50 a year they wouldn't have the same supporting cast that they do now but they'd still be good. Your way of thinking is toxic, and holds the team back. your fear of not being able to win games if you replace a non elite QB with another non elite QB and then you'll complain that your QB doesn't get enough help. If Dak made half his salary and the FO invested that into getting a few more players who could help maybe they go further. This team is good but has many flaws that they haven't been able to overcome because they overpay their own players and overpaying for Daks services is part of that problem.
Until no one wants to play for you because you dont pay players.

Until you let a good bus driver go, gets picked up by your Conference rival and beats you twice a year.

Over paying players is an issue...over paying for Dak is not an issue.

Nothing you can say can quantify Dak's "clutch" issue. Posters who do...rely on team stats and not individual stats.

Owners are going to have to let GM's trail blaze to do what all this propaganda suggests. I just find it funny that we are 15 years into solid internet sports message boards screaming for your way of thinking...yet real GM's are still doing the opposite.

Egg on your face is worse to these owners than playing the safe bet. Blame them, not me. I just understand where they are coming from. Most are trying to play the numbers game not trailblaze. Go to a casino and get laughed at for playing reckless...think about owning a Billion Dollar Company.

Youre all trailblazers with nothing to lose. The owners and GM's have a lot to lose.

Daks agent plays chess and little Ennis plays checkers. Oh the humanity of it all.

Trey Lance is the option today if we move on from Dak. But things can change fast in this league.

Cowboy fans.

This isn’t about what we think we should do but what options do you think our ownership is looking at.
I think the only option ownership is looking at is extending him. Dak was runner-up in the MVP race. It may have been by a lot, but I don't think most any GM would be looking to replace Dak. I think they would all extend him.

I think that Prescott has a good chance of leading the league in td passes again.
He's got an even better chance of choking in the playoffs yet again. The stats are there plain as day. Doesn't do jack until the other team puts in backups when the lead is insurmountable, then he decides to pad the stats.

That's right.

Being runner up MVP might also have teams wanting to trade for Dak rather then go with Cousins, Mayfield or a rookie. If Jerry has multiple teams calling him then he should listen and Dak and his agent would be wise to accept that rather than accept a June 1st cut. Dak LOVERS don't want to hear any of this of course. I have the same amount of love for Rush and Lance as I do for Dak...none at all. Dak hasn't done anything for the Cowboys but add more years of playoff frustration. I'm ready for a change at the QB position.

The post I responded to didn't ask what we would do, it asked what we thought ownership would do. Ownership will extend him. Anyone expecting something different from that is going to be highly disappointed.

I could live with trading him and giving Lance a shot this year even if it would probably go poorly, but with a no-trade clause, I don't think that happens. I'm OK with trying to build up other parts of the team this year, but essentially tanking if Lance is bad and then finding our next QB early in the first. If Lance plays well, then we can build from there. But it's a dream scenario because there's no way a coach on a one-year contract is going to want to take that risk and the Joneses have shown they will pay big money to their own FAs, including this one.

Dak wants a new deal.

So add in another 160-200 million.

On top of the 2024 cap hit.
exactly. Which is why I feel something will happen via trade. Jerry isnt about to do this when his HC is in his final year. No way. Somebody not getting paid.
