Here is the list of the dearly departed.

Terrell Owens
Greg Ellis
Roy Williams
Keith Davis
Chris Canty
Tank Johnson
Pacman Jones
Zach Thomas
Brad Johnson
Brooks Bollinger
Joe Berger
Kevin Burnett
Anthony Henry
Carlos Polk

For myself I am tempted to say Zach Thomas simply because of the immense respect I have always had for him. I am also tempted to say Roy Williams because of how great he once was and the wish he was a lifetime Cowboy. However, I am going to say Kevin Burnett because of what he meant to our pass coverage from the LB position.

Sad is a bit strong. I will say I will miss Chris Canty. I have a feeling he is going to really flourish in New York.

From strictly a talent standpoint, Owens.

But factoring in age and cap, I understand the decision to let Owens go and do not lament it.

But if we factor in age and salary in addition to talent.... probably Burnett.

We have Bradie James as a legit starter at ILB. Then we have Brooking. Heh. And then a rookie in Jason Williams. And Carpenbust.

Terrell Owens.

I'm not upset about the decision itself. I completely understand why the move was made, and I support it 100%. "Romo-friendly" meant Owens had to go.

What saddens me is the fact that his Cowboys career didn't end the way I had hoped. I became a big fan of his during his 3 years in Dallas, and had envisioned him playing a big role in a Cowboys Super Bowl championship.

It was beautiful when him and Romo were getting along so wel, considering his past issues with QBs. I was so proud of him when he shed tears for Tony after the Giants loss.

Should've seen it coming... him and McNabb were once close too.

Had the makings of being a perfect ending to a Hall of Fame career from one of the best WRs in the history of the game. An ending that I felt he deserved, based on his on-field prowess and legendary work ethic.

T.O. is so talented but such a divisive force and is always jealous of the QB. When he cried after the Giants playoff game, it was such a sham. He wanted people to blame the QB.

I for one would have liked Thomas to stay....because of the leadership qualities a young team like this needs..he could have taught the younguns the proper way to be a pro.. i dont think he really liked what he saw last season and being a Texas boy and wanting to be in Texas and seeing Jerry make the moves to clean this mess up he may have been a good player to have around if your trying to teach character....say what you will about his talent but you cant question heart and leadership abilities

Kevin Burnett. I think he has a very good future in the NFL and I hated seeing us keep Carpenter and lose Burnett.

I don't like Losing Canty either but getting Olshansky makes up for that very nicely.

My vote goes to Roy Williams. Yes, he was terrible in coverage, and his play seemingly diminished ever since he "found God"--but he was a Cowboy original, gave us some amazing moments, and was a top player in the league at his position for a few years.

I will never forget some of the bone crushing hits he delivered, and I won't ever forget that interception return for a TD on MNF against the Eagles, even if the ball was thrown right to him.

While thankful he's gone, I'm also thankful what he brought to the Cowboys. He was one of the only bright spots during the Campo era. I just really wish I knew what on earth happened to him..

Rw and KB were on my list. I was hoping Rw would retire a Cowboy..... Maybe RW11 will

Kevin Burnett.

He was a solid Nickel LB and was probably better than we gave him credit for.

Uh Roy Williams...I can't believe anybody would say otherwise. The guy had me sold in his first and second year and was a true Cowboy. Him fading is sad to me.

I was the opposite of "sad" about Roy getting cut.

He faded because he got lazy and lost his on-field "anger". Not like it was injuries or something else beyond his control that caused his play to decline.

Call me crazy, but I don't want a guy like that anywhere near the Cowboys locker room. Especially when there's younger guys in the secondary who look up to him.

Good riddance.

And for the record, I was as big a Roy fan as anybody from 2002-2005. Still have his #31 jersey in my collection. But my loyalty will always be to the star, and Roy consciously let down his teammates, coaches, and fans by deciding that the game wasn't very important to him anymore.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad he's gone as a player because he lost something...but the way he played before, I will miss that.

Me and you both.

I always automatically think of what Roy used to be, and what he could've developed into, anytime I see or hear any hype about Ed Reed, Troy Polamalu, or any other top safety in the NFL nowadays.

There was a time when Ed Reed was sort of like Roy's bratty younger brother who could never beat Big Brother in anything. Roy was drafted higher, and made more of an impact early in their careers. Man oh man, how things have changed...

The Ronnie Lott aspirations were very, very real. Ronnie alluded to that himself. Unfortunately, Roy didn't want it badly enough.

Register yet another vote for Roy Williams. I can't believe someone could go from such a natural born football player to stiff in a few years. Certainly, the situation could be fixed. I really wasn't ready to give up on him just yet.
