What position can a rookie make a Martin like impact next year?

Looking at our Free agents and my Chrystal ball.. I think none on offense... Parnell or Free will be here.. WR is Set. TE is set.. RB will be Murray or some other Free agent.. The line is set... On defense... FS I can see. Wilcox and Church are the same Player..LB is a mash unit but a rookie won't unseat Lee and Hitchens. Durant, Mc and Carter are free agents. But I think at least one will be back.. That leaves DE and DT. The only keepers are Crawford and Lawrence... The rest are Just rotational guys.... Guess I'm saying. I'd like the following positions addressed rounds 1-4.. FS, DT, DE and More DE.

I think at 27 the only position that could come in and be a difference maker would be rb. Gurley and Gordon most definitely could come in and beat out Randle or Williams. Gurley would probably start the season on pup but I think Gordon or a healthy Gurley could be pro bowlers behind that o-line.

Running back is a possibility if Murray doesn't return.
Any DLine position is a possibility.

Don't see any other position as a possibility because we are pretty much set everywhere else.
OL only really needs depth.
WRs are pretty set and outside of Dez and Witten you aren't gonna see anyone get a ton of catches.
LBs are pretty talented and could be very deep if healthy.
It's hard for a DB to have an impact if you don't have a good pass rush in today's NFL. So to me the DBs are only as good as the pass rush we get next year. If our pass rush is solid, I guess a rookie DB could come in and impact one of these spots.

If Alvin Dupree or a Michael Bennett fall to us at 27 they could make big impacts. Not instant All-Pros like Martin though.

Don't expect a miracle like Martin or Fred to happen again, especially that late in the round. I would guess that someone can come in and start right away since our defense isn't so good, probably on the D line or safety.

Dallas will have to address most of the defensive needs in FA if they really want to improve that side. It is more difficult to come in as a defensive rookie to make an immediate impact like an offensive lineman IMO.

A RB could but they better not draft one in the first or second round!

SDE going from Selvie to a pro bowl level would be hufrigginmungous. The we play the 3T and RDE means the LDE sees protection slide the other way. A wrecker like Wake would transform this defense over night.

LB with range, coverage and ball skills. I like Hitchens and McClain but they aren't fast. Carter's light started to come on as he started recognizing things behind him in space coming across the field and attacking the ball. He will be a big loss if it comes to that. A truly dynamic pro bowl LB underneath would help. We are pretty good at spotting LB talent lately.

Scandrick is borderline pro bowl talent. If we do add talent and have unit success, I could easily see him making it next year playing at this level. I love Moore as the third corner but I am ambivalent about starting. Carr is not suited to play the zone scheme and lacks elite short area quickness in space. A corner with size that can move and still hold up in the run would be huge. Carr gave up too many quick throws in front of him out of cover 3 as he was afraid to get beat deep on a double move. Often the rush was not overwhelming but it was there and an extra second would have been time enough to get home.

Wilcox started seeing things better but he melted down a bit in the playoffs as he was overrunning and biting on simple moves and playfakes far too often. He is at a crossroads of sorts. He did flash over the course of the year and made a lot of plays. Much like Moore, I love Church as the third S who plays the big nickel and ST stalwart. A ballhawk with good eyes and 4.4 speed to get to the sideline would allow the defensive coaches to do a lot more in coverage.

It depends far more on the player than the position... Having an offensive lineman become a quality starter in year one is an anomaly. Having an offensive lineman become an All Pro in year one happens once every couple of decades.

Dallas was very fortunate to "settle" for Zach Martin. The qualities you would look for in the draft would be a workaholic and technician at their position. The position they play is almost irrelevant.

I think Denzel Perryman could come in and start at MLB. Move Lee over. Wouldn't be the All Pro Martin was, but would be very solid.

Well we are talking about upgrading over Hayden and Selvie so the obvious answer is either SDE or 1 tech. Hell, it could be both positions if we play our cards right. The chances of a rookie d lineman making the pro bowl for us is probably slim to none, but that wouldn't even be necessary to be big upgrades over Hayden and Selvie.

Martin like impact is ALL PRO level play. As a rookie?? That type of impact does not come along very often.

That was the pick of everyone in the room but 1. That doesn't sounds like settled for anything.

Well the pick I think was Shazier, even had him on the phone I believe before they found out the Steelers took him

Injuries and other issues often change needs between May and September.

Who would have guessed at draft time that Hitchens would have started 11 games?

Who knew during the 2013 draft that DLine was going to be a huge problem?

Just get quality players and they tend to end up playing a lot.

a linebacker or RB would have a huge impact than any Dlineman we select in the first rd because that guy will be in a 8 man rotation but i still think Dline is the way to go in the 1st rd.
