Why does everyone keep saying Philly is in freefall. They let some expensive offensive pieces go and replaced them with young talented defensive players. If we did that everyone would say we're genius.
We all want to see Philly fail and although the moves they're making don't make a lot of sense neither did some of the moves Jimmy made when he first arrived in Dallas and we saw how that turned out. Many including Cowboy fans were scratching their heads wondering if Jimmy and Jerry knew what the heck they were doing but they had a plan and in time it paid big dividends. If Alonso can bounce back from his ACL and develop into the great LB he appeared headed to be his rookie year in Buffalo and Philly can replace McCoy with a solid runner that move could workout well for them in the long run. Swapping Foles for Bradford makes no sense at all. I'm not so sure Foles isn't better than Bradford at this stage in their careers. Foles had one of the highest passer ratings in history 2 seasons ago leading Philly to the playoffs and he had them at 6-2 before he was injured this past season. Bradford doesn't fit Kelly's offense a QB has to move and who knows where his mobility will be after his latest ACL. If he has any trouble moving around or avoiding a pass rush he'll end up injured again.
If the thought is to package him in a trade to move up for Mariota who's going to want to give Philly a sweet deal for a QB who's coming off back to back ACL's and is due $13M in 2015? Granted Bradford has a big arm and has shown some flashes but his numbers haven't been very impressive and being injury prone and due a lot of money Philly may end up stuck with him. I'm not one of those who's going to say Philly is in free fall because a lot can happen between now and the 2015 season opener. It appeared the Cowboys were in free fall last year at this time with Ware and Hatcher departing. The defense that was already historically bad took a major hit and was forced to sign a bunch of castoffs. The Cowboys then ended up losing their best defensive player Sean Lee to a season ending injury in his first OTA practice. Early in training camp they lost their top defensive pick for half the season and despite how gloomy things looked the Cowboys ended up having one of their best seasons in years. Before we count out Philly we better let things play out first what looks bad now may not look so bad once the season starts.
