I have a Christmas party with friends today. No way I miss it, they are like family to me and aren’t into football so they planned it for 5 pm today.

Only the biggest game of the year.

What would y’all do. I am planning to record it and turn my phone off as I get score alerts. No satellite radio on the way there or on the way home. They aren’t turning it on while I am there because I will be watching the game instead of getting my party on. And it’s embarrassing when I start talking and yelling at the TV as if the players can actually hear me.

Do I maybe leave the phone on and keep check of the score so if we win I watch it when I get home. And if we lose I won’t watch it and save myself the heart break. Or do leave it all off and watch when I get home. What would you do...

If these friends are truly like family and you can record it go off the grid. Then, it’s Christmas, you give them the gift, make the sacrifice they will appreciate it more then you will know. And, in the long run, it will mean far more to them then that you chose them over the Eagles Cowboys game.
That’s brownie points!
;)

Merry Christmas!!!

Enjoy time with friends and turn off alerts. Avoid social media and go home and watch the game. Don’t get on CZ until after the game.

Don’t be the guy at the party on his phone the whole time. Have fun with friends and be in the moment.

The older I get the more I realize the time you have with friends and family is way more important. Tape the game. Your being at a party won’t change the outcome. But if you are so into the game that you’re late or disengaged from the party, you could miss an opportunity for something more important.

I have a Xmas party today at my house with all my grown kids and grandkids that starts 30 min before kickoff, so I will miss the game even though I will tape it. It’s the only time of the year I get to see them all. The Cowboys game can wait.

Honestly man this sounds like a lot work. Why would they not be interested in watching the game if it's a close finish?

Just watch the game at home until you leave. Listen to it on the radio and if its close, ask your friends if they will turn the game on at the party so that you can see the last few minutes of the game. If it's not close, then it wouldn't have mattered anyway.

Tape delay and enjoy the important things in life. The Cowboys are fun, but they're just a group of athletes living in a different world than your and me. Watch the game later, come on here and share the experience after the fact, but don't miss out on the family time. Can't get that back.

You guys are right. I will take y’alls advice and avoid the spoilers. On one hand I almost wanted to know the outcome in case we lost I could save myself the heartache. But I have a feeling we will win and watching it knowing the final score will get boring.

When they planned the party over a month ago my wife was going to tell them Sunday evening is a no go because of the game, but I said please don’t say that. I don’t want them having to plan around my schedule. I also was hoping we would have the division wrapped up by then. Lol.

Very true. I have done this before but always forgot to turn off my phone and when I got a call and picked up the phone it showed the score. Lol.

If they don't watch football, I doubt they know what a sacrifice he's making....but I agree, record the game and stay off the grid if possible.

That’s the attempt I am gonna make. And your right they don’t watch football the way we do. Am hoping they put music on and not turn the game on. They will think I am crazy..

They may not understand the degree but they understand on some level that he is making a sacrifice all people understand that on a primal level. ;)

If you are going to be at the party but not be able to enjoy yourself because your thinking about the game be late and watch it . It you can hang with your friends and not be tortured over the fact you are missing the game record and watch later in piece and quiet . I watch games by myself or with my wife or one friend who is seriously into football . Cant watch it with a Zoo of women and kids babbling in the background .

It shouln’t even be an afterthought, go and enjoy family and friends they are the one that love and care about you. The cowboys are a one way love affair, they are never going to care about you.
