What to do with Witten?

If Witten must be here where would you put him?

  • Force him on the new Head Coach. He's not ready yet.

  • Just let him be the Head Coach and avoid the dysfunction.

there is a fmr cowboy who has served his time as a coord and ready to be the next hc here...aaron glenn.
like dan campbell...he's a fmr player.

like dan campbell...he's put his time in as an asst.
but jerry loves to make it hard.
Remember, with Dan Campbell, came a new GM. Their coordinators are young, meaning they aren’t tied to their old ways.

Make him TE coach. Satisfies the owner and fans.

There is zero chance he will be the next HC of the Cowboys.
Surrounded with a mix of experience and solid coordinators, he can be an effective HC...Dan Campbell type....take care of the players...motivation, media, Jerry. Be a presence in the lockerroom and sidelines. I'd rather have that, than a coordinator being HC and not concerning himself with the other side of the ball.

- Irvin/DEz: WR Coach
- Sanders: CB Coach
- Romo: QB Coach
- Randle: RB Coach
- Lee: LB Coach
- Gregory: WEed Coach

Exactly!!! The job Glenn has done with the Detroit defense, considering all of the injuries is incredibly impressive. He can also bring some of that Dan Campell toughness.

I hope that if Jerry decides to preemptively fill coaching slots before the HC is hired, he is left with Baby Bubba as the new HC.

It's happening. I'm as sure he's on the team next year as I am Dak Prescott. Whether we like it or not. In both cases.
I'm not speaking about myself, but a lot of people think we should use our 1st round draft pick on a new Risen Star.

Just hire him as head coach. We will likely fail, and fail fast, and so get a high pick and hasten the end of the Dak Prescott era.
Now that is what I was thinking!!!

Either he fails and that's what we need anyway, or we found the next great HC. Win-win proposition.

We're already the laughing stock of the NFL.
If they hire Jason Witten as the next HC, as much as I loved him as a player, it'll be a disaster for the Cowboys and their fans.
It'll be the best thing to ever happen to the rest of the NFL especially the teams on the NFC East.
Since we're headed for disaster anyway, might as well make it a major disaster!!!!!

I'm not voting because the guy should stay in high school. This while thing is dumb. I didn't like Witten when he left here because of the Romo boys club with Garrett and how he refused to retire. Bad taste. Maybe I'm alone in this. Bringing him in in any capacity is a red flag for the head coach. No. Please no! Th whole concept is embarrassing

. In the end, I believe Jones will try repeating his Jason Garrett strategy and force him on his next head coaching hire.
I think he will try ( Jason Garrett/Wade Phillips 2.0 ) but here's the problem. Where are you finding a QUALITY coach willing to sign a contract for only three years with a mandate to mentor a hand-picked coach to take his job? IMO only an older rethread near the end would consider it ....think Pete Carroll, Zimm or Belichick.

But it appears that is a major priority for Jerry .....I think Kellen Moore or Zimm will be the next coach.

You can bring in Jason as part of the staff then let your OC pick out a role that might best suite him. Honestly it is easy to suggest TE or TE assistant coach but if Jason really wants to grow as a coach he needs to be open to other positions as well like OL assistant.
