What to do with Witten?

If Witten must be here where would you put him?

As always, I try thinking like Jerry Jones ~shudders~ and considering what he wants to do instead of what I think should happen. In the end, I believe Jones will try repeating his Jason Garrett strategy and force him on his next head coaching hire.

Sooooooo, with Jones' choices, we would have;
Deion Sanders HC
Jason Witten OC
Sean Lee DC

  1. Likely not happening
  2. Likely thinking how to make it work now (sub-head coaching position) and looking down the road (promote to head coach)
  3. Not likely thinking of it now but never put anything past him giving it serious thought at some point

Yep.
A vicious cycle.
Garrett forced on Wade.
Moore forced on McCarthy only for Moore to return and get Witten forced on Moore.

It makes perfect Jerry sense when you think about it.

It's happening. I'm as sure he's on the team next year as I am Dak Prescott. Whether we like it or not. In both cases.

So here's my question. Since it's unavoidable would you rather he be forced on a more experienced head coach as an offensive assistant to groom him or would you just prefer making him the head coach right now and not having that kind of dysfunction?

What hurts more? The dysfunctional environment of pushing an assistant on the new head coach that the owner has future plans for or Witten's total lack of experience to be a Head Coach in the NFL right now?

This is very thought provoking question that bare minimum deserves a like.

I will forward the results over to the Joneses.
I prefer him to wear his wig on the sideline and throw it on the field instead of the challenge flag.

How soon we for forget about our fan favorite, Al Harris......

Speaking of cycles, check out the graph I posted at this link last October: https://cowboyszone.com/threads/this-is-the-best-outcome.528441/post-13806771

I think it is very appropriate illustration of the term applied to Dallas since March 28, 1994.

Make him TE coach. Satisfies the owner and fans.

There is zero chance he will be the next HC of the Cowboys.
Exactly. Let him work his way up. Like romo, he’s not ready to be a HC and I don’t think he’s likely ready to be an OC either

Make it a complete clown circus per below:

- Witt- TE Coach
- Irvin/DEz: WR Coach
- Sanders: CB Coach
- Romo: QB Coach
- Randle: RB Coach
- Lee: LB Coach
- Gregory: WEed Coach
Most of those aren’t even options lol

Yep, nice one man.
It really doesn't take a degree in human behavior to be able to predict how Jerry will most likely react to almost all football related decisions over the last 30 years.

He has examples of pretty much everything so that if you use those past reference points you can come up with a pretty accurate outcome of what he'll do.

He rarely deviates from past patterns.

Again, good graph.

Witten has more than proven his chops at Liberty Christian School. They went 12-1 and won their district. That's pretty much like winning the NFC East right?

It's very telling that fans and the national sports media aren't linking Ben Johnson to filling the Cowboys HC position

They/We already know that a serious #1 candidate like Johnson wouldn't consider coming to a circus like this.

Yes, Deion is linked but that speaks to his previous relationship with Jerry....just like Witten, just like Kellen, etc, etc

Why is it seemingly 100% necessary to force this Lowest Level High School Coach onto a NFL Staff that ALREADY needs NEW BLOOD....he has done NOTHING in my opinion after retiring other than failing in the booth, and giving us the classic "trying to pull a rabbit out of his head" line....Hawkeye fans suffer through this as well, with every coach seeming HAVING to have ties to the University.....absolutely asinine!!!
