I would love the irony of Witten getting strapped with our QB.
Difference is Campbell actually had a coaching career beforehand that began in 2010. Witten... ummmm nothing that you'd actually want to count as valid. Better comparison would be Jeff Saturday.JUST BECAUSE DETROIT had success we think we're going to have success
it's our way that brings out the best in what Jerry wants, long as he's happy that's all that matters if if it makes no sense at allMake Big Witt assistant HC and the future of the Dallas Cowboys before naming a new HC. That worked out well last time
So it's players and coaches where Jerry always acts like he is a talent guru and can see talent way ahead of everyone else. He really wants/needs some validation.... sad to some degree.Because Jerry Jones owns the team.
Of your three choices, I believe Mike Zimmer is the only viable candidate in that scenario. He has employment history with Jerry Jones and knows exactly the county fair funhouse he is walking into.I think he will try ( Jason Garrett/Wade Phillips 2.0 ) but here's the problem. Where are you finding a QUALITY coach willing to sign a contract for only three years with a mandate to mentor a hand-picked coach to take his job? IMO only an older rethread near the end would consider it ....think Pete Carroll, Zimm or Belichick.
But it appears that is a major priority for Jerry .....I think Kellen Moore or Zimm will be the next coach.
Jerry Jones is not hard to predict. Narcissists are creatures of habit.I hate to guess what kind of prep work that takes.

No, I don't want it to tarnish Jason Witten's reputation with Cowboys fans.Since we're headed for disaster anyway, might as well make it a major disaster!!!!!
I honestly think Jerry believes he can have any coach out there NOT under contract. It appears he has set his priority on Witten ( similar to Garrett ) being a Dallas Cowboys head coach one day but knows he isn't ready and he can't sell him to players, fans or media. So he needs to find a coach/situation that fits both for the next 2-3 years. This setup would not surprise me .....Of your three choices, I believe Mike Zimmer is the only viable candidate in that scenario. I severely doubt Pete Carroll will accept an offer--unless Jones takes an atypical approach and throw his wallet at signing him to a contract. Not holding my breath.
Also, Jones is not desperate. Some observers project their opinion onto him that he should be. Jones had every opportunity to sign Bill Belichick for nearly a year after the Green Bay playoff debacle. The only factor preventing him from making that move was firing Mike McCarthy.
The same man, who could easily part ways with a two-time defending Super Bowl winning head coach, could not do the same with McCarthy. No. He is an individual, who normally wants his money's worth. That crushing home defeat was not enough to overcome Jones' preference in McCarthy fulfilling his five-year contract.
As I have stated before, I do not believe Jones has ever seriously considered hiring Belichick. I will go on record right now stating Jones will shock me with luring Belichick away from North Carolina.
And I say that fully aware Belichick is totally a person capable of cutting-and-running for another job. Dude was hired and presented to the public by the Jets as their new head coach. Belichick told New York to kiss his <expletive> and allowed New England to announce him as their new head coach the next day.
That is cutthroat and something Cowboys fans should keep in mind. Why? Consider the answer to the question at the time Jones announces his new head coach. Because it is highly likely Belichick would not decline a serious (not a joke) offer from Jones.
^ That is part of his self-delusion.I honestly think Jerry believes he can have any coach out there NOT under contract.
This .......Witten still has his younger son at Liberty who is a sophomore. He has two more seasons to play. I’d be surprised if he leaves before then.
As always, I try thinking like Jerry Jones ~shudders~ and considering what he wants to do instead of what I think should happen. In the end, I believe Jones will try repeating his Jason Garrett strategy and force him on his next head coaching hire.
