What was the point in winning our last game?

Makes no sense to win that game. If you're out of the race, you should be doing whatever it takes to get there next season. Fans want to build through the draft, but not do what it takes to improve their chances on draft day. One team goes on to win the Super Bowl, the other just drops 5 spots.. that win was garbage. Can't win when it counts, but you show up for these?!!

Wanting a loss is wanting to lose and wanting to lose is a losing mentality...I don't care how many creative ways someone tries to justify it.

It goes on and on, if you restrict your draft efforts to just getting as high a first round pick as you can, you are severely short sighted...

Listing where players were taken proves nothing. The more toward the front you pick in the draft, the better. That's just common sense.

Okay, let me explain it again. You don't have to have first round picks to get extremely successful players. You typically only get one per year, sure they are rated in the first round because they're supposed to be better prospects, but obsessing over moving up 4 or 5 spots, which still puts you only in the middle of round 1, isn't critical to getting to be Super Bowl winners.

The whole thing about crying and wringing of hands because the Cowboys would have moved from 19th to 15th if they had "tanked" the last game is just silly.

That's my take of course, I can certainly see that someone would like to have a higher draft pick, but in this instance, with a team that isn't one great prospect away from being a great team, it's just a minor thing..

Those wins in 2010 really paid off? What a magical season that was.. You have a golden opportunity to improve. That's the goal once you're out of the hunt. The losing mentality is alive and well here as it is. If you can't win when it counts, but can only put together these type of games then you already have a problem! Could've beat Seattle to stay alive.. nope. Lets show up in Philly when there's absolutely nothing to play for. If you had a team actually capable of playoff wins then you wouldn't have to put yourself in this position. The past decade says they need to drastically improve cause they have some catching up to do. When your seasons over it's over. These wins mean absolutely nothing but a loss actually helps you more in the long run. You start Rush, put in backups and let the chips fall where they may!! The funny thing is they'll sit starters when they actually do make the playoffs.. it's ok to tank then! lol

It's only one player, if the Cowboys just needed one really good prospect to put them over the top, I'd be on board with it making a difference.

But that's not the case, to me winning one more game, having Dak and other young guys get game experience, even against backups, is worth much more than having a 4 or 5 spot better draft pick. Some say by tanking you're "looking to the future", well how is having Dak, Woods, Awuzie, Butler, Brown, etc. sit out making their play better next year? Players get better by playing mostly. The game was sort of like a pre-season game, you can use it to evaluate who you have, and if they are found lacking, then you have a better idea of who you need to replace next year.

Advantages both ways, winning or not winning, it's how you view it. Nobody's going to change anybody else's mind...

Well said. It's all about fans wanting their pet cat. Had they lost that last game and were picking 15, there would be those bemoaning if we only had the 12th pick, or 10th, or whatever. There are only 3 more players available at 15 that wouldn't be at 19 with zero guarantee who those 3 will be. Hell, they may not even be the ones fans or the team want. They will get a player at 19 that will be a significant contributor and starter, or at least should be, no different than 15.
