What was the point in winning our last game?

Giving Elliott 27 carries. It's actually comical since they don't even do that in a playoff game!! But going all out for this one? Really makes a lot of sense! lol
He missed 6 games. The work would do him good. Besides, he very likely has incentives in his contract for yards gained, etc. Might be a question of money. Maybe he just loves to play. Maybe it's punishment for making the Cowboys lose him for 6 games. Since we're not on the team or part of ownership, we just can't say why he played so much...

So what more could they have done to lose that game, other than ,you know, scoring 6 points?
Don't play Dak, Zeke, Bryant and (especially) Lee would be a start.

Of course I'm not saying they should have, just that it's a way to maybe not score at all and let the Eagles score a time or two...

Well said. It's all about fans wanting their pet cat. Had they lost that last game and were picking 15, there would be those bemoaning if we only had the 12th pick, or 10th, or whatever. There are only 3 more players available at 15 that wouldn't be at 19 with zero guarantee who those 3 will be. Hell, they may not even be the ones fans or the team want. They will get a player at 19 that will be a significant contributor and starter, or at least should be, no different than 15.
Statistically #19 has outperformed #16 throughout the Draft history and its cheaper....lol

After the top 5 studs every year, players are lumped into groups of 15-20 but it is not a science by any means

So the homers could wave their pom poms and claim that Garrett had a winning season. LOL

Yeah. Coaching staff and by extension ownership needed to have a "winning season" to sell. Even though everyone can see it was a hollow as they come.
Yep. And our starting QB and star RB were in the game with like 30 seconds to play, deep in Eagles territory, with the Eagles third-stringers in, risking injury trying to secure that little drop of snake-oil gold.

Pathetic. Can you imagine if Zeke had blown his knee out in that situation?

It reminded me of opening day during the Campo era. That idiot lost both Galloway and Aikman at the end of a blowout loss because he was unprepared and unqualified to be a head coach as well and didn't know enough to get his best players out of a game that no longer mattered.

History repeats itself.

Garrett's job isn't totally secure . Plus they believe they're the best team in the division. Why not show them what you an do when healthy? I'll say it again, Dak and Zeke have never lost to the eagles when both were in the game.

Momentum matters.
The eagles beat our back ups in the previous season. The next year they came out and won the division(by default because Zeke missed 6 games because of Goodells revenge.)

Injuries can happen anytime, on any play. Teddy Bridgewater blew out his knee in practice, so since he was the designated starter it was stupid of the Vikings to let him practice?
Of course not, but you can't guarantee or even substantially lessen injury chances by playing somebody early in games and not late in games...

And wouldnt it have been nice to get Rush some time at QB? Garrett is a total and complete moron. And shame on Jones for not forcing his hand.

Pretty presumptuous for you guys to assume Garrett wasn't trying his best to lose that last game.

We could be sitting several spots lower but decided to win a meaningless game when Philadelphia was playing their backups. Does anyone know the logic behind this?

The logic was you play to win games not to improve your draft position. It was important to the organization to have a winning season. Dak needed to play and play well. Philly did play some of their starters early in the game and it was important for us to enter the offseason feeling at least a little better about ourselves. It’s important to instill winning in your football team. 9-7 looks and feels a lot better than 8-8. We’ve had enough 8-8 seasons under Garrett. You don’t feel like you’re that far away from being a good football team at 9-7. We did the right thing by going out and winning that game.

I hate it when you're right. Stop making sense and write something stupid so I can counter your argument.

Bragging rights for the entire off-season.

The 2017 Dallas Cowboys are the only NFL team that beat the Super Bowl champions the last time they took the field.

That's like asking why did we sit our starters in our last game in Philly the season before & take a loss when Zeke COULD have broken the all-time rookie rushing record?

To top it off, the 'Boys had a shot having the most wins ever in a regular season (14) breaking a club record. But NO.... Clapper didn't want any part of it.

Those wins in 2010 really paid off? What a magical season that was.. You have a golden opportunity to improve. That's the goal once you're out of the hunt. The losing mentality is alive and well here as it is. If you can't win when it counts, but can only put together these type of games then you already have a problem! Could've beat Seattle to stay alive.. nope. Lets show up in Philly when there's absolutely nothing to play for. If you had a team actually capable of playoff wins then you wouldn't have to put yourself in this position. The past decade says they need to drastically improve cause they have some catching up to do. When your seasons over it's over. These wins mean absolutely nothing but a loss actually helps you more in the long run. You start Rush, put in backups and let the chips fall where they may!! The funny thing is they'll sit starters when they actually do make the playoffs.. it's ok to tank then! lol

We got Tron. A HOF franchise LT and great human being from all accounts. I think that season going unexpectedly wrong paid off.

2012 we needed up trading up and not taking Fletcher Cox. We could have taken Casey Heyward in the second with the pick we lost.
