I had us at 10-7 with losses to Philly twice, SF, Buffalo, Miami, Jets, and SD.

Lack of balance and penalty issues will bite this team at some point.
I actually think we might avoid San Francisco until the championship game. I think the Rams and Seattle could upset Philadelphia and Detroit on the road. Both of their defenses can be had.

We're like 90% going to be the #5 seed. That means if we win our WC game we go to SF unless Philly or Detroit lose to the #6 or #7 seed at home. Whenever we face SF we're done I'm sorry but I give us no chance unless their team comes down with the flu or something. They're a bad matchup for us both physical and fast and it would be a road game against a great team.
49ers are the favorite for sure, but anything is possible in a 1 game elimination. Injury, tip pass, etc.

Take out all the emotion and homerism, what was your realistic expectations for this team at the start of the season?

If everything worked out right, my top expectation was playing in the conference championship. That goal is very much still attainable.

Are they legitimate Super Bowl contenders? No, they have to fix their rushing offense, be better stopping the run and improve greatly with All these penalties.
I predicted 12 - 5 regular season, make it at least to the divisional round of the playoffs, hope to reach an nfc championship game if lucky.

I've said for years, our Cowboys biggest problem lies in our trenches on both sides. All our problems start there.

Couldn’t agree more, been saying this all season long. It’s starts with having a real ground attack and being more consistent stopping the run

I thought the Cowboys would win maybe 10 games. They already did that. But at times during the season I thought they could beat anyone in the league. The problem now is they can only win big games at home. On the road they are awful.
Here is another thought and we will have an answer next week when Dallas plays Detroit at home. Dak has always been a tale of 2 QBs. There is the MVP Dak who looks like has has at home the last 6 homes games or so. Then there is the bad Dak, who looks like the Dak we have seen the last two games. Over the years the two Daks show up in streaks. Usually good Dak comes out at the beginning of the year then turns into bad Dak during the stretch towards the end of the regular season. My question is, are we seeing bad Dak now after all those games with good Dak? Will Dak be on fire next week at home, or will he look like bad Dak again? If the latter, then Dallas has a big decision to make because it will be more evidence that Dak fades when the road gets tough.

If the Eagles beat the Giants today, and all but secure the division. I think we will see a looser, Dak and good Dak will emerge. If the Eagles lose to the Giants we will see the stressed out, tight Dak unwilling to let the ball go, which is what we saw for a good part of yesterday.

I expected, hoped, for an 11 or 12 win season assuming no major injuries. What I didn’t anticipate was their absolute dominance at home and almost total ineptness on the road. I think, but I could be wrong, they will bounce back at home next week against the Lions. But as it stands, unless something, crazy happens, they would have to go win three straight road playoff games. The best predicator of future behavior is past behavior. I don’t think they make it out of the wildcard round on the road at this point.

After 40 plus years, I am still a fan, will root for them and be hopeful but I have zero expectations at this point. Today was not a moral victory just because it was close. Miami was begging for them to beat them.

I am disappointed in Dak and the offense for disappearing for roughly 3 quarters, disappointed in the coaches play calling, disappointed in the defense for the last drive. Disappointed in the coaches and players reaction after the game from what I have read. I think as a team, they needed this win against a quality opponent on the road and they failed.

On to the Lions…
I look at it on the flip side, they just went head to head against a legitimate sb contender in their building, basically at full strength. Down by 9 and almost made the comeback win. This team is most explosive offense outside of the 49ers and they only scored 1 td

Tell you the truth, the 5th seed might be easier than the 2 or the 3 this year. Rams have got hot and Seattle gave us trouble at home. Bucs look far easier. It wouldn’t surprise me if 1 of the higher seeds get upset.

Yes, they got beaten badly by both the 49ers and Bills on the road, but yesterday’s game gave me some hope. They struggled but came all the way back and were in the game to the end against a legitimate team

A tip pass won't matter when it's 42-10.

Injury? Maybe if they have like 5 injuries to their best players.

This "theory" again (other people have also said it) that we're better off on the road and being scared of the Rams at home. I'm sorry but that's laughable. All 5 games we've lost have been on the road we are undefeated at home. Give me the Rams at home, if we can't beat them then we don't have any business calling ourselves a contender.

I totally agree. Actually the 5th seed might be an easier opening game

What did we do to the Bucs last year in their building against a better qb? Rams actually were playing well until Stafford was forced out of the game after the 2 point conversion against us

There are upsets to the 1st seed all the time, anything can happen in a 1 game playoff.

Coaching wise and offensive talent I would take my chances at Tampa then against Seattle/Rams although the Bucs defense is the best of the three.

Tom Brady was 46 years old. Better QB for career yes but at the time, NO! They were 8-9 had a losing record for the season despite winning the division. Brady was done.

You take your chances with Rams as the #2 seed then you automatically avoid 49ers in Divisional round and get 2 home games before facing them in NFC Championship, or maybe the Eagles get them and beat them in their house then suddenly your hosting the NFC Championship game. If we're #5 seed we have to hope Eagles or Lions lose at home or else we face them in the divisional round. By some miracle we beat them we're still on the road for the NFC Championship game unless we're facing #6 or #7.

It's all moot anyway more than likely you're going to get what you want and we'll be on the road. Since we've proven to be such a great road team and all.

I believe only 4 teams have gone on the road all 3 games and then won the Super Bowl. We're not that team, we're not even a good road team. It would truly be like one of the biggest upsets in sports history.

He will be better than Baker at 60.
