Take out all the emotion and homerism, what was your realistic expectations for this team at the start of the season?
If everything worked out right, my top expectation was playing in the conference championship. That goal is very much still attainable.
Are they legitimate Super Bowl contenders? No, they have to fix their rushing offense, be better stopping the run and improve greatly with All these penalties.
Start of the season ?
High expectations with the addition of :
A) WR Brandin Cooks, and CB Stephen Gilmore
B) McCarthy led offense
C) continuing Defense per sacks & turnovers
D) addition of rookie DT per run defense
- Cooks has been used more as a possession WR than over the top WR-
Failed
- I really thought/hoped we'd scheme our RBs well in both run and pass game -
Failed
- I didn't see Dink n Dunk 1st half of year - Mac re-adjusted
- Gilmore has met expectation in fixing the LCB role
- TE Ferguson emerged/has easily replaced departed Schutlz
- Hoped Clark would come into his own per 2nd yr.,
Failed
- Hoped our safeties would repeat '22 into '23,
Failed
- Dak/offense is lights out at Home - but lesser factor on the road :
Failed
- FG kicker Brandon Aubrey was great gem find, (despite outside panic)
- Mazi slow to adjust to NFL, but i also don't get how Quinn using him either.
