The first Cowboy souvenir was my personal Staubach Rookie photo autograph in 1969.

That and my Landry autograph on my Super Bowl XIII program are my most prized possessions .

It wasn't until the 90's when you started seeing jerseys sold more freely and visible at the games. I recall in 60's at the Cotton Bowl dad wearing suit and ties and no gear worn by anyone I recall.

By the 70's at Texas Stadium we started seeing tshirt and cap gear. I remember my 1st cap was like early to mid 70's. It's blue corduroy . I still have it. Just says in cursive print. Dallas Cowboys.

I had a kid replica uniform that came with a helmet when I was about 7 years old lol I've always had a big head so of course the helmet didn't quite fit right :(

A signed Staubach picture came in the mail along with a Fan package when I was about 6 years old. It turns out my uncle was a naval officer and knew him from some time in the Navy. He contacted roger (i think through mail) and told him I was a fan - asked him to send me an autographed picture. Funny thing is he also asked Roger to sign it "A friend of your uncle Ken" so I would never forget where it came from. Its an old black and white pic of him posing with the football in a drop back position with two hand on the ball as if he's looking downfield before winding up to throw - no helmet on. Still have it framed and sitting upright.

The favorite thing I ever had as a youth though was my Cowboys "Starter" Jacket in middle school in the late 90's......I miss that thing to this day lol......

Dallas kid, eh? I was born and raised in Irving. .
They have those Starter jackets at the Cowboys warehouse for sale, at least the last time I went. I was going to buy one, but they didn't have my size.

I think my first Cowboys gear was a signed Troy Aikman jersey he gave me in 1993 after my father and I hosted him and Moose Johnston at our house for a charity dinner. It was pretty cool.

Ok that's a total lie....
It was Cowboys curtains when I was 7.

Lmao :lmao:

Those starter jackets were literally everywhere. In response to the question. I actually had the pleasure of meeting a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader on vacation in Florida as a child. And have her on camera trying to figure out how to focus the lens, pointed directly at her........lets leave it at that. That video counts as gear right? :)
That works :)

For me it was a pair of Tony Dorsett Cowboys Pajamas with his number and name on the back ! In 1977 & I was 7 years old ! It was the first gear I ever got and I loved those PJ's I think I even wore them for Halloween for trick or treating lol !

My wife never watched football until we met, now she is a huge cowboy fan. Her first Cowboy Gear was 16 years ago - Plain old cowboys T-Shirt I know boring

My 2 Year old son - Had a Jason Witten jersey Right after birth + Cowboy beanie - was awesome since the jersey was so big on him but he grew into it ! Almost time for a new one for him though oh my lord who do I go with for his new one ?

Share your story guys what's the first Cowboy Gear you got ?
Got a Cowboys pennent..

and a program from Crazy Ray in the Cotton Bowl at the annual Salesmanship Club game with the Packers..

Later that night he came back and blew up a balloon dog and gave it to me.

1965.

You never forget that stuff.

While this is not technically "gear" in the manner I think you mean it, I was 5 years old and got one of those electric football games with the little plastic men that move when it vibrates. You would but the teams in formation and then have this little sponge ball wedged in the hand of the QB or ball carrier and when you click the switch, the metal board would vibrate causing the men to move, etc. Little did I know at the time that one of the teams was the Cowboys and the other happened to be the Chicago Bears. I bring this up because some years later (not sure what age but likely less than 10) I was watching a football game with my granddad and the Cowboys were playing (Roger was QB). I remember being incredibly excited as I screamed "that's the team with the star" over and over again. Pre-snap movement, multiple motion, the Landry hitch, shotgun...I sat in awe of the spectacle of it all. I had very little understanding of football at the time but it was the most magical thing I had ever seen in sports. Of course the Boys won that game with a stellar comeback (Roger was incredible yet again) and I was hooked. So...this particular "gear" primed the pump for that magic moment to happen. 40+ years later, I am a bigger fan than ever! :)
