yeah after we gave Free 4/32m and then we re-signed him to 5m a year instead of 6.5m for Parnell

Well, if Parnell had won the job, maybe Parnell would be here and not Free. The fact that he couldn't beat out Free speaks volumes.

Earn the job or it's not yours.

We should have practiced this some in training camp. We have Leary for this year and then he's gone. But he's going to be wasted on the bench because it's hard to move Collins to RT now that the season has started.

Leary is injured, and why he was inactive on Sunday, Collins spent the last season plus as is a left guard in the pros, not a right tackle, you just don't move offensive linemen from the left side to the right side to a difference position requiring a different skill set as if they're interchangeable positions, they aren't!!

He was a turnstile yesterday in pass pro. JPP beat him inside over and over again. And like the whole OL, was poor in the run game. What will it take to bench him? Another poor showing at WAS? Another injured QB (Free's man was the guy who hurt Romo, although not entirely Free's fault)? At this point, I would not mind going to a rotation between Free & Chaz Green (like we did with Free and Parnell for a while). Maybe that would keep them both fresh. Or get really aggressive and move Collins to RT and start Leary. Something has to change though. Thoughts?

We passed the ball 45 times and Free's man got to the quarterback, I believe, three times. On multiple occasions, Prescott was able to stay in the pocket because of good protection by the entire line against a strong defensive front.

I get that Free is far from perfect and we'd like to have another Smith, Martin or Frederick to replace him, but those who despise the player tend to overexaggerate his failures.

Doug Free gets so much unwarranted criticism every week, that when he actually does struggle significantly everybody acts like it's an 'I told you so' when it's really not. That said, he really struggled with his matchup this week. If we have a better OT on the roster, I'm all for giving him the snaps in practice and a shot at that job. I don't think we have that guy ready yet, but I'd look at it, anyway.

He gets scapegoated quite a bit.

You would think that with 4 first round talents on the OL fans would start shifting the criticism to the correct problem.

Unimaginative, predictable playcalling in the passing game.

All it would take to replace Free is an OT with more overall talent than both Free himself and Green. Perhaps next year they'll find one. Obviously, they'd better do so if they really want to preserve the health and well being of their QBs.
