What will the contracts for Irving and Dlaw look like?

It's not about the money they have next year, it's about the money they'll have in 4 years because good players want long contracts. The Broncos offered Leary a 4 year contract. By that time the Cowboys will have to pay Prescott big money, Zeke big money and they'd have no room on the books.

This was of course before Zeke's fall from grace and before his future became a lot more uncertain.

That’s the way it goes same with every other team. They have about 10 million in cap space for this year right now. They could’ve kept Leary. They felt they had his replacement on this team. Holy moly

Who cares? They will both get paid. Neither will be in the top 3 salaries at their positions. Romo goes off the books. There’s plenty of money. By the time we have to pay Dak and Zeke, Witten and Dez will be off the books.
Still need to pay Martin

And once again they wouldn't have been able to keep Leary because Leary would have wanted a long contract and the Cowboys don't have the room for that in the future.

can our resident capoligist please educate this guy on the cap. He acts like this team will have no cap lol.

You fail to take into consideration that we need to improve the defense because it's horrible. We keep Irving, we keep Lawrence, and now we need to pay big money to bring someone in to build the defense, where does that money come from? Or do you want to continue leaking 40 points a game to any team of actual calibre?
Who are you bringing in for big money?
When has this FO ever brought in someone who is a big money FA?
They don’t do that here. Teams don’t let pass rushers leave and we won’t either...
And Dez isn’t going anywhere. You are only frustrating yourself hoping for this.

FO is freaking annoying. Our defense needs improving. I would sacrifice part of our offense ability to actually get a good defense on the team. I don't see how that's a controversial opinion, though. It might be a lost cause hoping for it, but it's still something I hope for.

What if it's more like 15 for 5 years?
That's what C.Campbell got at age 31. DLaw is 25.

I would Franchise him even if the alternative was 5 years at 15 per. He had 2 back surgeries and just OK production when healthy in previous years.

We are keeping both beyond for at least 1 more year, after that Mr. Bryant will be the casualty to clear cap space to accommodate both contracts.

Our defensive help is more than likely just coming through the draft again.
I would guess our FO will feel they have some good young talent in the secondary. Lewis shows promise. Maybe Woods. I can see us maybe adding another LB in the draft next year. Maybe a DT also. Even if we didn’t have Dez and his contract I just don’t see them using that money overpaying for another teams free agents the other teams chose not to hold on to.

Our history of Free agency is one of bargin bin players.

Cut Dez after this season and use that money on other players.
Do you seriously see this happening?
You know our front office doesn’t believe in over paying other teams players.

This is far removed from reality.

If I'm any team I run to the phone to sign Irving and give up a 1st rounder! Dude is a freak. Already has 6 sacks.

Dez is definitely here next here.

But it would not surprise me if next year is his last in Dallas.
