Yep...though Nick Tahou's is one of the worst plates around, even if it was the first.

Never been to the original. If I was to go off my diet, I would get one of the town hots' garbage plates.

Depends on where I moved to.

I would miss the mountains and the 4 seasons, .. unless I moved to where they had both.

Plus I have lived here most all of my life, .. I see no reason to live anywhere else.

This is 'home'.

There are a lot of things I would miss about Texas, but one thing all of my former Texan friends say they miss?

Mexican food. Honestly to a greater extent, Tex-Mex.

WV has such a deep/complicated history and is the most aesthetically beautiful state in this region (country?) by a mile. The darker underbelly/worker exploitation is a whole other socio-political discussion;) but love the state as well (the family connection too).

Are you referring to coal miners?

Yeah the past/current exploitation of coal miners (indentured servitude), massive safety deregulation or enforcement in the mines, sectionalism, chemical spills/toxic waste in water supply/environment as a result of heavy deregulation or safety regulations, mountaintop removal mining, and the shoddy infrastructure common in some small towns (we can't drink the water in Rainelle not to mention the Meth head burglaries/stick ups). Mainly poverty as a result of generational exploitation from outside business interests looking to extrapolate the bountiful natural resources/renewable energy. I also understand that there are a wide range of cultures; you can live in small Boone County type of towns or in the mountains...with religion displaying various degrees of influence. Poor educational system/lack of legitimate opportunities for young people to expand.

Mostly Southwestern WV problems and issues.

I don't see any of that north of Charleston.

Yeah sorry for the rant bro...just hit home (thinking of the wonderful positives and Potential for the state and its citizens, being accompanied by that exploitive Corporate/Legislative ugliness) and went off...my b.

I took it you didn't like with the "Ahhhh Kansas" in your profile bc was curious as to what state you were referring to. All good, never been but would if opp presented itself (College BBall).

Living 4 miles from a final 4 team from last year and hopefully again this year isn't all bad. Hoops crazy state.

Just curious, .. but where do you get your stats, figures, opinions on WV?
Where do you read about these issues?

Not that they don't exist, just wondering why you have that much background knowledge about WV.

My family is from Rainelle WV and have had continuous socio-political conversations concerning those types of communities in WV, most specifically. I acquired a double major in psych/political (Financial Management for Grad School) science in college and used West Virginia socio-political history and statistics to correlate the social problems common in inner cities (DC specifically). Poverty and exploitation occurs across the country basically...The Appalachian segregation that played a role in Corporate/Business exploitation of the workers and the natural resources, inadequate educational opportunities; forcing citizens into a form of "proud dangerous work" that doesn't benefit them on any deeper level, and most importantly (in my opinion) the historical aggressive/oppressive exploitation of railroad/coal minors whose compensation was based off of the indentured servitude model...similar to the historical Mississippi Delta exploitation of its workers.

The citizens commonly vote against their self interest out of fear (FOX media) and ignorance.

Mainly it is just personal research via peer reviewed journals on these topics using the library research ports. My aunt in Beckley is a teacher (only college diploma in my family before I followed) and we had many various sociological topics relating to exploitation/similarities as a result of generational poverty common in DC and the Appalachian region (historically more so).

All my male cousins are coal miners or in the military from the Rainelle, WV region. My family in the mountain are religious, hard working folk..down in Rainelle, they are welfare meth scrappers. I was born and raised in DC where the term "bama" is commonly referred to backwards country folks (historically Alabama country folk who migrated to DC for sanctuary were spotted from a mile away by locals) so in a way I wanted to fully understand my family history being a 2nd generation "WV bama".

Hope that wasn't TMI:oops:

Statistics: GF's college login to Research Ports to Peer Reviewed Journals, and bare statistucs just gov sites: DOE, FBI.Gov, AMA, DOL, etc.

Not much. The scenery can be pretty but I find a nice beach view in a warm climate much better.

I would move and maybe just miss some friends.

I think if if I had the patience for hunting I would miss that a good deal as I could get a deer and most small game off my back porch.
