I got ya. I just feel different about drafting a back at 26 than I would at pick 6… or even 16. I do understand that point though, so I never give any **** for someone not wanting RB in round 1.

My feelings can’t be hurt with a baseball bat though… so I’m good no matter what.
Even Bijan I'd be mad. And it's not because I'm against them in round 1, it's because it's too many available in this draft. And pollard on a franchise tag isn't that much more than what the first rounder would get so just resign TP

You make some good points.

Only the Cowboys can answer if they plan on throwing a lot to the backs on the new offense. I know Mike did a lot in Green Bay early on, and that same offense (Holmgren) used Ricky Watters all the time as a pass catcher.

If the team is planning on throwing to the backs more… then Pollard and Gibbs would be perfect for it.
If they have Gibbs, they certainly will throw him the ball.

I don't hate the player. I'd hate the use of the resource. Get a RB late Day 2 or Day 3. Guys like Zach Charbonnet, Kendre Miller, Kenny McIntosh. Zach Evans and Mohamed Ibrahim will all be options that can provide production beyond the first round.
Love McIntosh. Don’t see much difference and you can probably get him 2+ rounds later.

You would think so…. However, they’ve had Pollard a long time (he is a great receiver since college) and they didn’t throw much to him.

It will be a different offense this year though, and Schottenheimer throws to the back a good bit, so I agree with you. Plus, McCarthy used to throw to the backs fairly often before Aaron Rogers became Aaron Rogers.

Happy.
He's not a bellcow 340 carry a year back imo. He's the guy you give 10-15 carries and 5-8 targets a game to start off in a tandem.
Get him in space and let him work. He's a great pass catching back and I think he'll run a low 4.3 40 as his speed is legit.

Man if that's the case them I'd pass on him. First round backs should be 3 down backs. Gibbs should be a 2nd rounder like Breece Hall and the Seattle Back last year.

Take another player at 26 and Charbonet at 58

He is a 3 down back. Just saying he's not that type of back like 2016 Zeke that would really excel at running up the gut 20-25 times a game.
Gibbs is more of the Kamara/CMC style of back that should be fine with 20 touches, but a good mix of run/pass and not 90-100% runs.

I'm sure if a team wanted to, they could do the ole run up the gut with him, but at 5'11 200lb it won't suit him or the team the best.

His value comes from his vision, acceleration, agility and true top end speed. He has serious wheels, as he has been recorded running at 22.3mph in pads. His route tree is also very good for a running back.
He's basically a far better Tony Pollard coming out of the draft.
Just looked up NFLdraftbuzz comp on him, they have him as a faster Deebo Samuel

We have to go through some great DLs in NFCE. If there is no threat of the inside run then it’s is lights out

If Gibbs is the guy that probably means Pollard is gone. I’d have no problem with the pick because the kid has special talent. I think he will be a top 20 player on our board.

Cnu, who you want at 26? I'd be happy with Flowers, Sanders or Branch at 26.
I love all 3 of those guys at 26.

I’m pretty open as long as it’s a premium position.

CB, WR, OT, DE…I’d make an exception for Sanders bc he can pass rush and Branch bc he can play slot CB.

If they franchise Pollard they should NOT consider any RB in round 1. That would be a ridiculous use of resources. I can’t imagine even our front office would do that.
Watch them do that and Pollard comes back lame from the injury.

If we're going to be a more run-focused offense in 2023, Robinson is the pick for the first round.
If he's not available, we should go OL or DL and pick up a back like Gibbs later.
As someone has already mentioned, he's too much like Pollard. We need a bruiser at some point.
I'm not against even taking two RBs in the draft, just not that high, unless Robinson is available.
There's some good uns in this draft. We don't have to reach for a running back unless he's rare and can become what Zeke failed to become after his first season.

I saw a mock draft today that had Mayer, Gibbs, and JSN all on the board at 26. They had the Cowboys taking Sanders and the 3 guys above were taken in 3 of the next 4 picks with Gibbs going to the Eagles at 30. I simply can't let that happen. Gibbs is my pick. I can't let him go to the Eagles for half a decade.

I anticipate him being in the mix at 26. What would your reaction be
I’m warming up to the idea of Gibb or Robinson. I prefer Robinson as work horse but can’t go wrong with adding proven play makers to this offense. its sorely needed.

My problem is if we franchise TP we have 2 of the same dudes.

We need a banger.
You can get a banger in 5th round. if we pick Gibbs then TP will only be here for 1 yr.
Rotate Gibbs and TP with a short yardage back We need weapons. Can’t be overly picky at 26.
