Whats news on Claiborne out tomorrow because of shoulder?

Big difference in the trade terms and the circumstances.

We did do research on Bryant. We gave up the 3 and 4 for him.

We did zero research on Claiborne, gave up more and even the player was shocked they traded up for him.

No one was surprised the Cowboys wanted him but the trade up was a shock. The DC (already forgot his name) convinced Garrett and Jerry that his defense was one shutdown corner away from being dominant so they made the move.

I don't blame Claiborne for not living up to expectations (so far); he had no illusions of being the next Primetime. That was all the Cowboys. I don't even blame him for not being prepared (knowing his assignments) the last few years -- that's on the coaches.

Yes, it was a bad trade but I don't blame the player. I want him to succeed but I think the odds are against him.

They had a grade on the player so they did research, he may have been shocked he was drafted, he wasn't interviewed prior to the draft. The point remains it happen and he's here.

And this somehow legitimizes your hindsight stance?

Do you normally debate this way?

I have had ac joint injury and I can tell you its not area of body that heals quickly. Mostly because there is little blood flow to that area of shoulder so it took me a year to get it back to normal. I hope his recovery time is much sooner.

I have one too can't lay on that side.

They had the highest grade since Sanders on him, but Rob Ryan is to blame?

Partially. He campaigned and they listened. It's always the last guy to have Jerry's ear during draft time. Funny thing is he might have dropped to them and they would have taken him anyway.

Most NFL teams had Claiborne the top corner in the 2012 draft. It wasn't just Dallas. There was no way Mo was sliding to them. Sometimes scouts miss, and sometimes a player's game doesn't translate to the pros.

Since when should a defensive coordinator have that much sway?

I just see Ryan blamed for this but in the same breath, people claim the decisions are by committee.

You cannot have it both ways.

Or sometimes teams do not do their research. Like we did. Never even met the player before trading up to take him.

Had we not paid a price, I know I would not care as much. He could be another bust like Felix Jones or Jenkins.

The GM shouldn't need to be led by the ear by his staff. He should have some clue on how to build a winning football team.

It'd be nice if the VP of Personnel wasn't an empty vessel too.

Anyone who supported that Claiborne trade and/or the Carr signing doesn't know their bleep from their elbow when it comes to football. That was destined to fail. It had no chance of success.

I don't see much difference honestly. He was fool's gold and it was a bad trade.

I'm giving Claiborne a shot this year.

That's not defending the trade. I think the trade was stupid. Same with Lawrence. I like Lawrence, but I didn't like the fact we had to trade up for him.

I don't think Rob Ryan was even in the war room.

If there were an adequate search feature here, you could see that not everyone liked the choice.

Not everybody, but the majority liked the Claiborne trade at the time. There were some who disliked it. Then again, there are some here who dislike everything, and I mean everything. They are pretty easy to spot. You don't need much of a search engine to find them. They were most likely the same ones who ripped the Rolando McClain trade even before the details of the trade came out.

And I am definitely sure the majority here were against the SF trade which netted Fredbeard and Williams. Not many ridiculing that trade now, is there?

I think a lot of the 'hindsighters' have a very selective memory.

Fool's gold? He was widely considered the best cornerback in the draft? You guys and hindsight......boy.....do you guys kick yourselves in the arse after you see the Lottery? "Gosh......I could've won the lottery had I known what those 6 numbers would've been....".
