Maybe coaches are giving them indications they want to keep Stanback.

jerry jones sees the potential because of his size and speed

i think stanback reminds jerry of T O in some instances

i cant get anyone to tell me what his true speed is now in the 40 after his leg and foot injuries, but supposedly its faster than what he is listed at
4.55 in 40

:laugh2:

Not even...if Stanbreak got horse collered they would have to put him down! T.O. and Stanbreak in the same sentence?

What good is a guy that can run like a deer once or twice a season then have to get treatment because something of his broke...again?

This would be a stupid move to keep six.

Especially now since we have to keep 2 guys on the roster who are injured for six weeks (Williams and Hamlin).

Plus we have two kickers.

I don't see it happening. If it does then it's because they are worried about Hurd, Austin and Williams playing all 16 games.

Because sometimes Jerry is just an idiot. If Stanglass is kept, it's because of Jerry and no one else.

Beat me to it. This explains the entire Stanback situation clearly.

I see no reason whatsoever to keep Stanback. If something crazy happens and we keep him over Ogletree and try to slide him onto our practice squad, I am going to absolutely lose it.

If the story about the 6 WR is true then that's sad and the mentality is part of the reason of what's wrong with the cowboys. We need to stop babying our young players.

Isn't the mailbag done by Mickey Spagnola? It's probably just speculation, but I see no reason to keep 6 wr...ever.

i wouldnt mind him(stanback) slipping to the PS we do have vick in our division now and he would prolly be the best way to simulate vick...if he doesn't get hurt doing it.

For once we agree. If the Cowboys are not going to put Mike Hamlin on IR then they don't have room on the roster for Stanback.

I'm all for keeping Stanback over Pat Watkins, but I can't see us going with just eight DBs (Newman, Jenkins, Scandrick, Ball, Mickens, K. Hamlin, Sensabaugh, Smith) while Mike Hamlin heals.

Hurd and Austin are always injured. Williams has a toe injury last year.

Agreed. I'm not high on Stanback or Austin, but I think we have to cut one of them--preferably Stansnatch.

I'm highly against keeping Stanhack over Pat Watkins. Watkins still resembles a player while Stanhack looks, well, like a hack out there.

Hurd and Austin are always injured. Williams has a toe injury last year. Currently he's nursing a shoulder. Ogletree has yet to play in a real game. While that's not his fault, Stanback has played in real NFL games and has looked fine when healthty. He's healthy again now and has plaed well since coming off his last injury. From what I've heard, coaches like his progression. On top of that, Jerry Jones is afraid of Jimmy Smithing himself again, and I can't blame him for that. Add all that up, and it's likely that Stanback will be the #5 WR over Ogletree. And if they go with 6, it'll be because they're afraid of Ogletree not clearing waivers onto the practice squad. Hey I'm just sayin...this may not be what folks want to hear about Dallas' WR dillema, but this is how I see it all shaking down realistically.

Cowboys kept Ellis, too, way past his effectiveness and look how it delayed Spencer's progress.

The Stanback experiment has played out and its time for newer blood in there.

I disagree. The glaring talent of Ogletree trumps Stanbacks lack of performance. Besides, realistically we don't need six receivers given we have Bennett if we spread out 4 wide. So given that Austin and Hurd seem like better prospects than Stanback, I don't see the situation necessarily playing out like this. I think Stanback could be the odd man out. If coaches like his progression, I guess most of us just aren't seeing it.
