Actually, Stanback has pretty spectacular lateral ability.igtmfo;2703709 said:Reply to my own post ..
Stanback's to WRs what Tyson Thompson was to RBs. Fast in the open field, but not really nifty. Good on returns, but maybe not good enough lateral movement to really get things done. More of a straight-liner.
Chalk it up to a Bill Parcell/Jeff Ireland reach. ... In Ciskowski we trust, who ain't going to make the same reaches that Ireland did ... (did Ireland try to talk BP out of Carpenter, hm , I wonder ...)
Jeff Ireland. No, I'm not guessing. Ireland admitted as much.burmafrd;2703735 said:From all accounts Stanback was Jerruh all the way

I don't see him ever possibly contributing as even a 3rd receiver. If that's true, he shouldn't be on the roster.Idgit;2703853 said:You've probably addressed this in previous threads, but what do you have against Hurd? He's a hardworking guy and an asset for us at 4th WR. If anything, he's exceeded any reasonable expectations.
I'd love to see Stanback pass him, but I'd be very comfortable with Hurd filling in for Crayton, and could live with him as an injury replacement for a number of games.
As for Stanback, I don't have a problem with him earning another roster spot, and I could see him develop this offseason into a contributor as long as his shoulder stays where it belongs.
And yet it's not.FCBarca;2704138 said:The Stanback experiment is over...I said it last summer...The kid is injury prone and he will never be a regular football player
