What's up with Stanback

He's been fragile since college - why should things change now? People need to stop going by looks and judge by performance and tell him this is it at training camp produce or hit the road - NO MORE CHANCES HERE!

He's had one off-season. This is his second off-season as a WR, period. To say it's a waste or anything is waaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyy too early. Hell, it might even be justified to give him another year after this one.

Right, as very rarely, and this means 1st round picks at WR. Can just jump in and make an impact. They do take time to develop. I think maybe the RB position is the only position that he can step in and play.

That guy is so unimportant, I refuse to say his name anymore. I'll just call him 86.

That's about how I feel about him. I hope they just cut him and be done with it. He and Bobby Carpenter are colassol wastes of time.

And to think, we wasted a pretty good pick on Stanback. We nabbed him near the top of the 4th round. They had all night to look at the remaining prospects and he was the best they could do. Essentially a 3rd rounder wasted on a freaking project.

My guess is that Jerry fell in love with the guy's workout numbers and overrode other opinions. Afterall, he is the ultimate decision maker.

Austin had shown FAR more than Stanback at this point in their careers. Have you seen the guy run routes? Its embarrassing.

I would hope that Austin had looked like a more advanced route-runner, considering he's his school's all-time leading receiver

Not too many players drafted in the 4th round of 2007 have done too much. I am pretty sure that anyone Dallas would have drafted in that round would be criticized at this point. There weren't a lot of great picks to choose from.

I am not sure how much people want from Stanback. With TO, Roy Williams and Crayton as the top 3 receivers there are not a lot of passes to go around for the #4 and #5 wide receivers on the depth chart. I do think Stanback needs to stay healthy, but I am not sure why people are ready to right him off. After this year I think the circumstances change, but not up to this point. He was labeled a project from the get go. Projects generally take more than 2 seasons to get going.

The list of project receivers that don't work out for us is much longer than the list of successful projects. It just shows you that some guys have it and some don't. So far, Stanbacks tenure in the NFL is looking dubious.

What is the deal with him? When are we going to see some production out of him? He's been groomed for what, nearly 2 years now. Maybe I'm being shallow, but I'd love to see him start making strides. Preferably on the field @ the WR position.

He's been groomed for 2 years.. you will see him sometime this month or maybe april or may. Maybe June or July if your lucky.

if he was really an Ireland project then it's past time to be trading him to the 'fins!!

That's true for every team in the league.

Same thing was said about Miles Austin this time last year. Now he's apparently TO's replacement.

Be patient, people.

Screw patience! [while eating microwave popcorn and drinking a cup of instant coffee]:)

He shouldn't have been drafted... What a waste of a pick.

Really? You don't think it's a bit early to claim that? I mean, when he has been on the field, he has looked pretty good. Hell even Parcells said you give a guy three years. The man has only had two.

I disagree. He's looked awful as a WR IMO, and has had mixed results as a return specialist. One fumble, a bunch of returns to the 20, and two explosive returns...not exactly something to get excited about.

Reports from training camp have been the best thing this guy has going for him. I hope there is something to them, because I haven't seen it. Yet. He doesn't have any excuses this camp. Sink or swim time.

Tom Landry used to give his players 3 seasons to show something...

but you obviously know better.
