The guy has definitely been the best kicker we have had over the last several years, but I am beginning to worry that he has a little bit of "dead leg".

Not only were his kickoffs consistently landing at about the 12, his 46 yard FG looked like it barely had enough leg to clear the crossbar. What happened to the guy that was consistently putting his KOs to the goal line?

I think some of that today intentional

but yeah I agree, its becoming an issue moreso though because our kick coverages are so bad

If I were Wade and Jones, I'd be starting to consider a kickoff specialist...in close games, bad coverage units can get you beat...

Every single week. 10-1 and we're still trying to bury guys who are part of an amazing team and producing.

Unreal.

yeah ive been wondering the same stuff. if he's kicking it that short on purpose, does that mean wade doesn't trust our kickoff coverage unit?

what would u rather have, a K who makes his FGs (putting u at ease), but can barely get it to the 10 on KOs........or a K who is streaky kicking FGs, but has a leg that booms it into the end zone? Now, let us assume that both is not possible.

I am so thankful for Folk. I will take his dead on FG leg and subpar KO leg anyday over the other scenario.

It could be intentional. Phillips may wish for his leg to be fresh for the postseason run. It's not like we have to worry about Devin Hester running kicks back against us anymore.

I'm not trying to bury anyone. The guy has been great this year. But over the last couple of weeks, he has struggled with the distance on all of his kicks...something that we didn't see at all earlier this season.

Trust me, I am as happy as anyone that we are 10-1. I am also one to realize that it means nothing if we don't bring home number 6. If we keep giving teams starting field position at the 35-40 yard line, it WILL hurt us. Thank God our defense stepped up big today, because neither our offense nor special teams did them many favors.

Without a doubt I take the great FG kicker. That is a no-brainer. But we had a guy that was giving us both earlier this year...and now he isn't. I don't see the issue many seem to have with pointing out this obvious difference.

You jerked the knee.

Noone's burying anyone here. Seems a legit question, one that will probably be asked (ie. was it intentional or not?) in an upcoming pc. You'd have to assume it's intentional, if not - I'd have to assume he is hurt.

There is definitely something wrong with him. I was surprised to see him make that FG because he hit nothing from that distance during warmups.

His kickoffs have been lacking for 3+ weeks. And no, it's not by design.

BUT, we're 10-1 so who cares?

How does a guy get a dead leg? Kicks off 4 or 5 times a game and maybe a couple of field goals. Seems if it were possible that a little rest would remedy the situation.

This explanation doesn't wash. You're asking about Folk, not the coverage units. He has very little to do with coverage except for depth of his kicks. He hasn't been as amazing as he was in college on the kickoffs, but "dead leg?"

Please.

I hope it is intentional but if it is, put it aside next week before we play the Packers because they have a decent returner back there that could bring the ball back to midfield for Farve to work with throughout the game.
