When did it really all start to go sour?

Why does everyone crap on Parsons so much? Are you all still so upset about his podcast? Newsflash - all players have hobbies outside of football. Every single one. Because he said something that could be construed as disparaging against the coach? So what? Pretty much everyone on this site has said things much worse. He's the best player on the defense. He clearly loves football. You can tell he wants to play, he wants to win. It's discouraging to put your all into something, then going out there and knowing regardless of how well you play, you will lose the game.

2015 IMO

The franchise had Jerry-centric problems before then, but Terrell Owens to Roy Williams to Brandon Carr and Finally to Greg Hardy in 2015…. This has caused Jerry to be so mistrusting that he only believes in players who came up through his system; abandoning free agency and major trade markets completely.

This is a death knell to any roster construction philosophy in 2024.
And not understanding that it is his very poor player evaluation that causes it.

When they let our proven o-line men walk and did not change the coaching staff for the better.

This season, it went bad when DQ walked out the door. McCarthy was terrible before and immediately after DQ's stint in Dallas.
Nope. It started going bad w/ the drafting of Trysten Hill.

There are several correct answers. This offseason....the past 30 years...Jerrry...etc. They all can be right.

I hope fans don't fall for the dog and pony show this offseason when Jerry hires a new coach, makes a FA signing, etc. He is going to sell this hard. I hope most fans realize that nothing is going to matter in the end in this current setup. It is what it is. Unfortunately, a lot of fans will buy it. Maybe not as much as before, but come training camp they will be all right back all in baby!

You could even go back and say it started going bad w/ the Amari Cooper trade. Now, Amari is a good player, but we gave up way too much and then paid him way too much.

Why did this make it go bad? Because it was another kneejerk reaction by Jerry because he'd once again done a very poor job evaluating talent. Howso? We went into that season w/ Allen frickin' Hurns as our #1. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

So, why was it so bad? Because while Amari is a good player, he's a low end #1, and then add to it that we had to pay him huge immediately. And that led to the Trysten Hill draft.

Soooo, I kept hearing at the time no one else would've been available. Is that so? If we let that season play out, we'd prolly have been drafting top 15. So, who was there? Brian Burns, Noah Fant, Dexter Lawrence, Josh Jacobs, Miles Sanders, Deebo Samuel, Jeffrey Simmons, Montez Sweat. And a host of others.

By making that trade, Jerry started the downslide that is now wildly apparent. Easy to see coming when you add in the others, Mazi, Schooner, Kelvin. Guys who should be the heart of our team.

Yup, just Jerry's usual crapp. It's OK for fans to tout our 5 bazillion pro bowlers or all pro or whatever, but it is not OK for the GM to use that as an excuse to draft horribly.

Not the start, but our demise was sped up with the 2023 Draft, where we drafted for need. Jury's out on the 2024 Draft, but for a team that puts everything into Draft and Develop we need to see results.

No we didn't. TE was not a need. Mazi was just a stupid pick, and there really is no reason for the drafting of Schooner. Don't use the need vs BPA argument for what is purely bad drafting. Mazi was not very good in college and has poor lateral agility and inconsistent burst. Schooner was a 4th round talent. Just dumb drafting.

We were just coming off a running game that fell apart with Pollard's injury. The plan was to improve the blocking ability to help the whole running game, and not endure a massive drop off without Tony.

I've been around for awhile

Its gotten progressively worse over the years

Obviously when Jimmy left

Then when Jones ran off Parcells

Then when he fired Philips and installed the Garrett regime for an excruciating decade...

Then 2016 ushered in the worst period of Cowboys football in my lifetime

Some of you crack me up with blaming Micah for going "sour". There are many reasons for this, and Micah ain't one of them. smdh

We picked Mazi because we needed a 1-tech.
The Schoon (helping run game) and Mazi (run Defense) were the final pieces after trading for Cooks and Gilmore.....in Jerry and more worryingly McClay's mind.

  Romo was healthy after missing most of 2015 on IR and 2014 was the best year of his career. There was no need to draft ( if that's what you mean ) a QB high, although they did consider it.
And, wasn't Dak ROY? Dak's left leg injury is where it went downhill for me. He hasn't been the same since. Happened to RG3, difference is, his team saw it coming and let him go. Although, the haven't done any better as a team, either.

My personal opinion
Even though I wanted to draft the individual
Micah Parsons .
. Like him, dislike him, on the edge about him.
This is when the team started to go backwards. We’ve started to play like individuals and not a team. And individuals don’t win.
, Trade him or keep him
53 brands!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not about the team, it's all about players not the team!!! Wait until he gets the bag you'll really see the truth

Blaming this on our best player? Lol

This thing needs a shakeup and a new voice. 5 years with one coach in the NFL is a long time when the organization doesn’t have a way of doing things. Like a Pitts or Balty does. We need a motivator of men.
he's not our best player, Overshown is

2016.

The Cowboys once again committed to not taking the QB position seriously.
So then it would be 2003. When Romo was signed as a UDFA no?

Or how about since they drafted Aikman.

It is amazing that you blame Dak solely for 30 years of ineptness lol.
