I understand this completely.....i think most of us see it as a positive because had we gone to the playoffs we very likely would see the same coaching staff here....and I for one wouldve broken down if they were still here

Now that’s a different argument. Lose to get the current regime out the door to help the franchise in the long run does make sense

The draft is a crap shoot. This year the dice have landed on our side.

Yeah, but don't trade up, don't draft head cases, don't draft injuries, don't ignore DT. So far they did none of those things. All quality staples in Jerry's ridiculous drafting arsenal. Drafting smart. It should work more often than it doesn't.

Easy to say it now. I wasn't happy at the time, but after giving it some thought, I like many of you were like "how far would Dallas go even if they were to make it to the postseason?"

There is NO WAY this draft would have set up as nicely for Dallas had they been drafting behind Philly. The Eagles need a WR in the worst way, as well as a CB. They could have been zeroing in on Diggs in round 2.

I'm not advocating always finishing behind Philly. But if comes down to the battle of 8-7s, then count me out. I'd rather go 8-8 and pick in front of them.
The real question:
Do we make a coaching change if we win the nfc east?

All true. But it's still a crapshoot as to who will be available when we pick. We got lucky getting lamb.

We've been sooooo lucky in this draft. First 2 rounds gave been amazing. That being said, you play to win the game. I'll take playoffs over no playoffs every single year.

Yeah hindsight is easy. At the time, I'll take the WIN.

I’d rather go 9-7, win the division and go to the playoffs.... because that’s kind of the point of everything....

Imagine turning down the playoffs because you can draft a couple spots higher

You obviously dont understand the "big picture" here.

We beat you, we win the East and go to the playoffs and then Captain Clappy and his band of idiots all get new contracts.

We lose to you, Clappy and his scrub coaching staff all get a one way bus ticket out of Big D.

Drafting higher was just a fringe benefit, not the ultimate goal.

Losing that game to the Eagles was a complete disaster. The biggest issue was the Cowboys were at full strength and Dak looked terrible in the biggest game of the year. No TDs at all for this offense. And to make matters worse Wentz put a beat up Eagles team on his back an proved he could carry the team at times unllike Dak. Even if Dallas wins that game Jason would of been gone. Yeah Dallas picked up a couple good players in the draft but now they have a big fat question mark at the QB position. I would of rather seen Dak ball out in that game and show he is a top talent.

Philly was so beaten up, they had no business winning that game. I think they just wanted it more. It was a fitting result to a season I never felt good about. The consequences worked out well for our future. New coaching staff, better drafting position this year. There is no way the draft would be going so well for us now.

Philly wanted it, most of the Cowboys didn't, including apparently the coaches. Seemed kind of obvious. They knew they'd get smoked in the playoffs and wanted more interview time and opportunies from teams searching for coaches before the playoffs ended.

Watched the same thing. I guess the new narrative of blame it all on the defense and ignore the offensive futility against teams with a pulse on defense never happened. It's an off season non accountability potion that Jerry is obviously mixing in the water supply. Kinda like the Jonestown tragedy.
Guess I'll continue to refuse that kool aid.

This thread could be named "My mother lives in Kansas" and you would make a hate Dak comment. Stick to the topic for once. We get you don't like the guy. How about commenting on the topic if that's even possible in your case.

Apparently an un-fortunate side effect of Philly beating the Cowboys is that our brain dead fan base is going to think that every pick they make is based on stealing from the Eagles...
doesn't sound like that.

sounds like this is a side benefit we're happy with; not a guiding factor in the decisions. i was damn happy to get ceedee and diggs. now if that also means it pissed off philly - fan-freaking-tastic.

only thing that really means.

While I do agree....it does show how pointless it is to back into the playoffs though. It's the differnce between drafting CEE Dee Lamb and drafting Jalen Reager.
For what this team needs in the next 2 years, Reagor would have actually been amazing for us. His best role is a slot. As someone who’s watched him play, he would have been awesome in McCarthys scheme and is the best punt returner in the country. I was for him at 17. He would have given us a Chiefs style offense dimension we haven’t had.

The Eagles problem is Reagor is not a #1 in the NFL. Relying on him to be that will be a disappointment.

Lamb is a much more complete receiver and is capable of being a #1, which is what Philly needs. But as starting out as a #3, the results the first two years would have been similar between him and Reagor.
