I understand this completely.....i think most of us see it as a positive because had we gone to the playoffs we very likely would see the same coaching staff here....and I for one wouldve broken down if they were still here
The draft is a crap shoot. This year the dice have landed on our side.
The real question:Easy to say it now. I wasn't happy at the time, but after giving it some thought, I like many of you were like "how far would Dallas go even if they were to make it to the postseason?"
There is NO WAY this draft would have set up as nicely for Dallas had they been drafting behind Philly. The Eagles need a WR in the worst way, as well as a CB. They could have been zeroing in on Diggs in round 2.
I'm not advocating always finishing behind Philly. But if comes down to the battle of 8-7s, then count me out. I'd rather go 8-8 and pick in front of them.
All true. But it's still a crapshoot as to who will be available when we pick. We got lucky getting lamb.Yeah, but don't trade up, don't draft head cases, don't draft injuries, don't ignore DT. So far they did none of those things. All quality staples in Jerry's ridiculous drafting arsenal. Drafting smart. It should work more often than it doesn't.
We've been sooooo lucky in this draft. First 2 rounds gave been amazing. That being said, you play to win the game. I'll take playoffs over no playoffs every single year.
Losing to the Eagles last December did the following:
1. Ensured Jason Garrett's exit.
2. Allowed Dallas to draft Lamb and Diggs ahead of the Eagles.
I’d rather go 9-7, win the division and go to the playoffs.... because that’s kind of the point of everything....
Imagine turning down the playoffs because you can draft a couple spots higher
Losing that game to the Eagles was a complete disaster. The biggest issue was the Cowboys were at full strength and Dak looked terrible in the biggest game of the year. No TDs at all for this offense. And to make matters worse Wentz put a beat up Eagles team on his back an proved he could carry the team at times unllike Dak. Even if Dallas wins that game Jason would of been gone. Yeah Dallas picked up a couple good players in the draft but now they have a big fat question mark at the QB position. I would of rather seen Dak ball out in that game and show he is a top talent.Easy to say it now. and best of all FINALLY, FINALLY, FINALLY, it showed JG the DOOR!Easy to say it now. I wasn't happy at the time, but after giving it some thought, I like many of you were like "how far would Dallas go even if they were to make it to the postseason?"

Philly was so beaten up, they had no business winning that game. I think they just wanted it more. It was a fitting result to a season I never felt good about. The consequences worked out well for our future. New coaching staff, better drafting position this year. There is no way the draft would be going so well for us now.

You mean it isn't/wasn't?Apparently an un-fortunate side effect of Philly beating the Cowboys is that our brain dead fan base is going to think that every pick they make is based on stealing from the Eagles...
Great argument, but as a long time player and coach.......just win baby!!Losing to the Eagles last December did the following:
1. Ensured Jason Garrett's exit.

This thread could be named "My mother lives in Kansas" and you would make a hate Dak comment. Stick to the topic for once. We get you don't like the guy. How about commenting on the topic if that's even possible in your case.Losing that game to the Eagles was a complete disaster. doesn't sound like that.Apparently an un-fortunate side effect of Philly beating the Cowboys is that our brain dead fan base is going to think that every pick they make is based on stealing from the Eagles...
For what this team needs in the next 2 years, Reagor would have actually been amazing for us. His best role is a slot. As someone who’s watched him play, he would have been awesome in McCarthys scheme and is the best punt returner in the country. I was for him at 17. He would have given us a Chiefs style offense dimension we haven’t had. While I do agree....it does show how pointless it is to back into the playoffs though. It's the differnce between drafting CEE Dee Lamb and drafting Jalen Reager.
