When the Cowboys start slow and the excuse is that Dak is just finding his rhythm

I honestly think it's a response to the criticism. As fans, we should really support our players. Not trash them. But fans do what they do. Even though I'm not a big Dak fan, I don't trash him. He's our quarterback. Even though I don't think he is anywhere near as talented as Romo. Some would disagree, of course. Just like I supported Danny White when Roger retired. This whole, "what has he ever done" is usually coming from fans that never played the game. The same fans that thought deflating a football gave the team an advantage. People that never played the game and just watched.
IMHO big time sports has moved beyond this. Dak is not just our QB. He is his own brand. He is his own business. He is his own entity with his own objectives and his own agenda as he should. He makes 40 million per year. There is no reason to worry about winning. All he should care about is maximizing earnings. Just like D Flaw did. Just like Jaylon did. Just like Zeke did. Just like Diggs is doing now.

Cheering for the players no matter what feels like amateur athletics to me. Competitors doing every thin they can in pursuit of excellence I can buy into that. Jerry and his cast of clowns trying to make as much money as they can doing as little as they can gets pretty old pretty quick.

I'm just not sure that it really matters. Dak getting 20 snaps in the preseason won't determine if this team wins week 1 or not, nor will it determine if Dak is in rhythm or not. The 1000+ snaps he is getting in camp significantly outweigh the preseason importance. I can see preseason having some significance to younger players or guys new to the organization getting the game day run through to see how the game day process goes in Dallas or the pros in general. Also just for the guys who played at smaller schools who have never played in front of 60+ thousand fans.

Some guys need the preseason, some guys don't. I think Dak has pretty much shown that it doesn't really matter how much he plays before week 1. For the concerns I have about Dak, this isn't one of them.

I have seen the light. I now see how blessed we are to have a top 5 franchise quarterback running the show.

I also now realize that Mahomes and Burrows type quarterbacks are impossible to get and the best best is to build around Rayne and finally, finally, give him something to work with here. With the talent level here the last 6 years NO quarterback could have done what Dak has accomplished.

anybody out there that wants to replace Dak doesn’t know anything about football .
The best post of the year. I respect it. Welcome to the dark side.

Hold on now NFL players have come out and said there's an edge in deflating the footballs.

well when acl or achilles etc just give out without being hit or badly twisted etc, it is usually imo are already damaged, so just a question of time
and the right circumstance and it gives out.
I really can't claim to know much about it. That's one injury I've never experienced.

I can't, and won't argue with anything you've said. It's the truth.

Part of the desire to see Dak get reps in the preseason is due to Dak coming off a season which he led the NFL in INT's despite missing 5 games as well as MM installing a new offense.
I get that.. but McCarthy has been around the game a long time.. longer than most of the people on this site have been alive. He knows what it looks like when I guy is on point in practice so I trust his judgement as to whether to play guys in preseason. Dak included. I think if Dak comes out and throws a couple of "aggressive" picks in preseason throwing to guys who aren't likely to see the field in a regular season it might do more harm than good. Now if you put him out there with Cooks, Lamb and Gallup and he lights it up the risk is losing a key player and the reward is "it's just preseason the other team wasn't trying." All about balance I suppose. Dak and the crew can get the confidence they need in practice going up against one of the 4 or 5 best defenses in the league. Nothing in a preseason game is going to approach the level of talent and intensity they see every day in practice.

Zeke gave everything he had for this team. Did every single thing we asked him to do. No other super star rb blocked as much as him, played as injured....played freakin' center/entire o-line really.

We...ruined him.

And this is what he gets for it.

I agree with the point of not really caring if Dak makes mistakes in the preseason as that is ultimately what it is for. That said, I do not have as much trust as you or others in MM for when he admitted to lying about watching a lot of films in order to get the Dallas HC job, that to me put a major question mark on his character.

Regardless, nothing we say or think matters for we have zero impact on what takes place with the Cowboys.

Goes down in 1st game last year. So much for not playing PS games to protect him.

Tubby held out early, got paid, got fat and was no longer productive. He got his bag and that was good enough for him. Not everyone cares about legacy or greatness and that is OK. We have moved on so should you.

That’s because Mahomes and a Rodgers were atrocious last season. They need to get back on track.

Our guy is in the zone and I won’t tolerate him even taking one snap that could put him in harms way…..not on my watch, nephew
Patrick Mahomes had a passer rating of 105.2 with 5,250 yards, 41 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in 17 games in 2022. He was selected to play in his fifth Pro Bowls. He won his second MVP award, his second Super Bowl MVP award and his second championship.

If that is atrocious, we better hope he doesnt get "Back on track," in 23 because no team has a chance against them if he does.

I guess you missed his entire 2016 rookie preseason when all Dak did was take snaps behind the backup line. Romo didn't get hurt until the end of that preseason.

So the only reason Dak is still around is because he's not getting pounded into submission before he can even step into his throws? Interesting take, I wonder why the Cowboys haven't caught on to this over the past eight years.

I swear you guys will cling to anything to the point you just make stuff up.
well..... people are saying that dak is not good..... its all over PEOPLE ARE SAYING......smh
