When will we know this team has turned a corner? When will we know what kind of team this one is?
I’ve said many times, two games is not nearly enough evidence to know what we have with this team. Especially with a ton of new faces to blend into the chemistry.

So....When will will know what we are? These are some signs I think we will see:
  • When we see Consistency on both sides of the ball- when we know what both the offense and the defense are going to be able to impose their will consistently. It’s only been two games, and that Carolina game had the feel of a preseason game because of the rustiness of the offense.
  • When the receivers start clicking with Dak- there are at least 4 new faces in this “WR by committee” bunch and they haven’t yet figured out how they are going to mesh with Dak. It takes time- especially when you don’t play any in preseason as a team.
  • When the defense shows it can shut down a great offense- we haven’t exactly played the cream of the offensive teams yet. But the D has looked very good, especially with pressure. But I want to see how our D stacks up against really good offenses like Atl, New O, and Filly. Stopping 80 year old Eli Manning is one thing. Let’s see how we do with some real QBs.
  • When our kicker proves trustworthy- anyone here ready to pronounce absolute faith in Brett Maher? I won’t until I see him show some consistency, especially under pressure. Like making a game winning FG. The margin between winning and losing in the NFL is paper thin every week. Look at how many games early in the season have been decided by a kicker.
  • When the HC shows he can make adjustments to what other teams will do- last year, one of the biggest frustrations I had was watching this HC and his staff continue with the same game plan week after week, even when it was obvious the league had figured out how to stop the 2016 blueprint. IMO, it remains to be seen if this coach is capable of making adjustments in game or in season.
We have seen 1/8 of the season. But if we can start seeing some of the bulleted items above, I will be more comfortable to say what this team is and what it can ultimately be.

Thoughts?

Our HC has hit his ceiling, JG will not get any better. He has reached his max potential, his clapping can’t even get any better.

Our Defense builds confidence more each week and they are good.

Dak has to continue playing the way he did last week. Gonna have to use his legs to get defenses off the balance. Maybe eventually if he better at those long passes to his speed guys then it will back defenses out of stacking the box.

It’s gonna take time to get clicking with these WRs. Game play is the only way to do that. Practice all you want but it has to be done in game situations to build that trust. Not playing much in preseason showed big time in our first game.

Our kicker seems to be settling in. He is gonna be just fine. It will take time and some pressure kicks for us fans to trust him. We had Bailey for so long we got spoiled.

Garret is going to regret seeing his face pop up on google searches as an internet MEME for the rest of his life; that's where his legacy is at, and is where most of society puts him now.

His problem is he don’t seem to grow and change with the game. Same plays and playbook. It’s old and out dated.

Can an NFL team win in the playoffs without a HC that makes adjustments? (Question for our FO)

The defense is almost to that point right now , and we still have returning talent in Gregory , Woods and Irving that will make them even more dangerous and formidable..........................I have faith in our offensive line getting back to being superior and we'll see what level our new kicker is at relatively soon .

As usual , my question and probably the same one for a lot of those on these boards , has to do with the HC..........................

No. I don’t believe you can. Once you make the playoffs you are going against the best of the best. It takes the extra to make it to the SB. The extra is a HC and coaching staff that can and will make adjustments on the fly during the game. Now Marinelli will make in game adjustments. He showed that against the packers. And it worked till the end when he went prevent instead of keeping the pressure on. JG and Linehan runs our Offense and neither will make changes unless it’s to pass the ball more and abandon the run. They have no problem doing that but there is no different pass plays. It’s the same old plays. No creativity.

The only way we win in the playoffs is if our players are just that much more dominant than the opposing team and we win despite our HC.

Maybe since the D seems to have turned the corner. And once they get the offense together, as they get more in sync. They will be so good, Garrett won't be a factor, and no in game adjustments will be needed. :D

Shields up!

I still get rid of Linehan at the end of this season. If it’s still gonna be the same plays then let’s get someone else calling them. Someone that can use these plays to set a defense up. He finally did a descent job last week in our first series. After that it was just random calls. Enny menny miny mo. Ok run that. Lol

As a matter of fact we will know when we lose a game and we can honestly say “the other team was better” instead of “why did we throw 4 times at the one yard line?” “Why did we freeze our own kicker” “why did we not run out of bounds knowing we aint have a timeout”

I think that's more on us than the team.

I wonder will Zeke get more than 15 touches; will they figure out this new fangled "rub route" thingy with their 7 WRs, will the new Oline coach teach them how to open up more lanes, etc.

If Garrett/Linehan would understand being a running team means alot of 1 yard and 2 yard gains then boom here come 6 yard gains and 8 yard gains. They go into panic mode the first 1 yard loss
