When you were growing up...

I grew up in Utah and only got to see Broncos games back then. I was a Bronco (gulp) fan till I moved to Ft. Worth in '88.

Having said that, I grew up having a man crush on Tony Lilly, Safty, number 22, Denver Broncos.:

Deion Sanders. I remember when I played on ps1..I used to always throw to Sanders on offense. hahaha yeah lame..but hey...i focused on him.

no offense, but we got some OLD mofo's on here!!

None taken.

The bubble gum that came with these cards was a powdered, crunchy rectangle. Nothing tasted better.

Staubach, but sadly I also later graduated to play as Danny White. Stupid child.

Yeah, my knees every day. Good point.

Hey Hos, my wife says "this getting old is not for sissies", ... I think she's right.
:D

I was the young kid on the block. They wouldn't let me be Roger the Dodger - So I was always Cornell Green. I'd intercept a pass and take it back for the winning touchdown. Then one day my mom bought me a Bart Star jersey :banghead: But I wore it anyway and had a lot of fights :( To this day I can not wear a football jersey -

haha..

yeah, and you used to have to play on a field that was covered in snow.. and uphill.. on both sides of the field.. barefoot..

and yeah, I do have to say, I wish I had grown up in the era of bubble gum football cards.. I always thought those looked cool.. do you have that Roger Staubach? it's probably worth a little bit of dough..

Oh I had it all right. Long gone now though, unfortunately. A mint condition of that Topps 1972 card (not the same card in the pic) went for $4,500 on ebay, btw.

aw man! dont you hate that?!

I had a ton of Dan Marino, John Elway, Jerry Rice, and pretty much any other mid to late 80s superstar you can think of's rookie cards when I was a kid.. course, they all either ended up in the trash or in some other kid's collection.. $4,500 though.. man, thats brutal.. sorry about that..

course if ya think about it, if we had all known when we were kids that cards were gonna be so valuable, then we would have all kept them.. then they wouldnt be so rare and wouldn't be worth much.. kind of the whole Back to the Future space/time continuam thing..

oh, and collecting cards as a kid wouldnt have been nearly as fun if we were doing it so that we could make money later.. it was all about trying to get your favorite player.. when i was a kid, i got A LOT more excited about getting a Dennis Thurman card than I did about getting some freaking Jerry Rice rookie card..

I had that one too. My brother gave away all my cards my first year of college. Swapped them for some dope. About a 100 bucks worth.
