Where does Garrett land?

And yet, they didn't get it done under him. That's the end result. Almost doesn't count, especially when his teams continued to be unable to push past a certain point. I'm not sure why you're so gung-ho about defending him. Sure, Jerry hampered him, but even in his final year here, he was making coaching mistakes that even a second or third year coach wouldn't make.
I agree they didn’t get it done but that wasn’t the argument I was responding to.

I genuinely liked Garrett and the influence he had on Jerry and football operations despite his coaching flaws and weaknesses.I truly felt he might be the best puppet we could hope for.

Accepting the puppet Jerry forced fed was part of my mockery of Jerry. And I enjoy taking on the Lynch Mob.

Defensively those 8-8 teams set futility marks in NFL history and were statistically some of the worst in Cowboys history. There were comparisons made defensively to teams in NFL history who hadn’t won more than 4 or 5 games.

How many of those 4 or 5 win teams had a really good offense? Historically speaking there were some really good offenses that did well despite having a crap defense. Even though they didn't win a SB, they put on a good show. The greatest show on turf. Remember some of their defenses? They used to tell them, just hold them to 30 and we'll do the rest. Those late 70s early 80s Chargers had defenses me and my friends could score against.

More recently the Chiefs D. What was their record last year? Their defense was every bit as bad as the Cowboys D from 2011 to 2013. They gave up more points than the Cowboys in all but one year, 2013. 11 points less. Yet when you look back at last year's Chiefs the last team you would compare them to are the Dallas Cowboys of 2012.

But being okay with the same thing over and over even knowing it would end in failure is just giving up. I have no problem with Garrett other than saying he couldn't get it done in this atmosphere. I don't think he'll ever be good HC material, but wish him well wherever he lands...I just don't want it here because we know how that turns out every time.

We'll see what we have new this year. Can the new HC mitigate Jerry's meddling better? We shall see. Trying something new is better than the status quo.

Accepting Jerry’s dysfunction and losing hope is basically giving up. How many times I said I’ve lowered the bar and waved my white flag.

All he had to do was tell Jones " I know I wont be the coach so give me permission to interview".

If he would of said that instead of lobbying, he would have gotten a hc job. However, he and Jones tried to work something out and everything was filled when it all said and done.

doubtful. his only potential landing spot was ny. they POUNCED on judge. if they had any interest in garrett they could have held off a few days because no one else was pursuing judge. and once he became available he'd have been considered for OC. he wasn't. dudes done. college, or maybe NE depending on what happens with mcdaniels

You’ll have to do the research . I’m just echoing what was reported at the time.

I’m guessing that while those great offenses had lesser defenses they probably weren’t worse in team history or set futility marks in NFL.

And I’m not sure I’d compare those offenses we had to some of the greats like you mentioned .

Jerry has wasted 25 years. Accepting the dysfunction Jerry dishes out was my only way of survival beyond taking matters into my own hands .lol

Alabama. Saban is about done there and Garrett is a Saban guy. I have believed that Garrett needed to be in College for a very long time anyhow. I just think ti's the right kind of job for him.

Yep as I said last week i really think he may go to NE if McDaniels leaves. That said he’d also be a fantastic choice to be the Baylor coach. Garrett in college would be very good. 18-22 year olds love those life lessons and wouldn’t be able to tune him out after 10 years since 95% are gone by 3-4

Think about it, why were those offenses great? They're talented athletes, not gods. You still need coaching and you still need a game plan. Look at the coaches of the teams I am referring to. That helps them be great.

What difference does it make what record the Chiefs D broke in team history? They were as pathetic as those Cowboys defenses and they came a neutral zone penalty away from going to the Super Bowl. Cowboys went 8-8.

They would run Garrett out of town with pitchforks by the end of the first season. They are used to be champions on a routine basis there at Bama and it is doubtful Garrett can accomplish that on any level.

It speaks volumes that Jason Garrett not only isn't getting a sniff for head coaching jobs, but even with all of the changes in offensive coordinators, his name isn't surfacing there either. Dumb Cowboys fans and Jerry Jones can say whatever they'd like. But reality is saying something quite different.

Good luck to the PR staff that has to sell Jason Garrett as their head coach. Unless it's a small school, he'll have to take a coordinator job to attempt to rebuild any shred of a reputation ever again.

To be clear, Bama is not going to see what they have seen under Saban for a long, long time again. At least that's my opinion. However, I do think Garrett can see success at Bama and more importantly, I think there is a chance that he could get Saban's blessing there. He would not be Saban but he could still be successful there I think.

That's just my opinion.

I would like to have a dollar for all the times you have typed a derivative of the words dysfunction or puppet in the last couple of months.

Not to mention, but I would bet that a lot of Bama fans also love the Cowboys. I have three close friends that support both. We might have a riot if that were to happen :lmao2:
